I would wait (I know it’s hard) and register in the late spring. My mom was kind of hounding us to register only because people were asking her where we were registered, so we ended up registering in early February…when we really could’ve and should’ve just wait until May.

We’re planning to register in October or November for our May wedding. Our shower will be when we’re at home for Christmas. We could probably wait until December but I am just SO excited, lol!

You really can register whenever you want but depending on where you register things can be out of stock by the time your wedding comes around. I think 3 months before the shower is good timing.

We’ve started registering already (when we think of things that we’d really like). Even if they go out of stock, they’ll be there on the website to remind us to look for new versions, especially if the item is changed from season to season.

What we haven’t done, though, is publicly release the registry.

I’m going to register in early January. I’m putting out STDs in teh Christmas cards, which will have the wedding website, and so by then I’d like to have the stores to which I’m registered set up, even though the items may not be complete. Again, this is the plan. I’m registering at HBC/The Bay/Home Outfitters (one conglomerate in Canada) and Cutco.

I would do it around 5-6 months in advance. That way people can have time to wait for sales to buy off your registry. And you want to make sure you have plenty of time in case you second-guess your choices or want to change your mind.

Actually- most of the magazines I’ve read say do it right away! Even if you haven’t sent save the dates, people will find out and want to get you something. My date is Sept. 2011 and we haven’t even picked out the save the dates yet and we’re getting stuff in the mail. I don’t think you have to go all out- you can keep adding to it as the months pass and you get a better sense of what you need.

We’ve already registered a couple months ago, and not getting marrried until June 2011.

We figured that family could buy off our wedding registry for Christmas and birthdays too (especially for things like our china).
