We were against having one for the longest time so we ended up waiting a really long time to start our registry. I think it was about July when we finially had one made and this was only because my mom kept saying people were asking what to get us (little did I know it was because of my shower). I honestly wish I would have done it sooner.

I believe typically your supposed to start your registry 6-9 months before, but if you really want to have it before Christmas and you don’t mind doing some “house keeping” on seasonal or discountinued items then I think early November would be acceptable. It’s really up to you. Also watch your FH when you hit the stores….they go nuts over those price guns!

I think it would be fine but just remember that you will have to go through your list throughout the holidays and after the holidays to clear out anything that goes on clearance and add new items for the shower and wedding.

@Statutory Grape: No problem. I only was able to scan one item!!! He was all about it. Mad me laugh.

I would register early and often. There’s nothing worse than having to buy a gift card because there’s nothing suitable left on a registry. I also wish more people put things like board games, camping supplies, whatever you’re into on their registries. I know, bed sheets are exciting too but I swear, every one of my friends has decorated their house with muted tones of blue, grey and black and they use plain white dishes. So boring to shop for!

my only concern with registering early would be things going out of stock.  keep in mind that sets you register for now, may not be here in a year for your wedding so you end up with partial sets.  maybe have two “waves” of registering?  items that won’t go out of season register for now and set items register for later?
