My wedding is 6 weeks away and to our delight we have been receiving a steady stream of "gifts" via our honeymoon registry. My question is when do we send the thank you cards?
It was my intention to make cards with a cute, beachy picture of us actually ON the honeymoon once we got back, but that won’t be for another 2 months! Should I send a thank you card NOW, soon after receiving the gift, and then another once we return from the trip? How are others handling this?

Send them now as the gifts come in. Are you sure the gifts aren’t for your shower? If that is the case you couldn’t wait the 2 months anyway.

i would send a thank you now, then maybe another thank you when you come back (and you can include pics in that). i think your post-hm thank you can even be done via email, since you’ve already sent a real (ie, handwritten) thank you. that way you can still acknowledge that you received the gift now, but let them know how much you enjoyed it on the hm.

I’m in the same situation, and I say wait to send thank yous. That’s what I’m doing. Our wedding is two weeks away, and we have a hand full of guests who have already purchased our gifts. I dont think anyone is expecting a thank you before the wedding even comes up. We also plan to make cards with a good honeymoon pic – I think people will really appreciate it either way!

I believe the more prompt the thank you, the more well-received it is, which breaks my heart in the case of thank you cards for the wedding because we’re in the same boat as you, only our honeymoon isn’t until September! That being the case, I don’t think I could leave it for four months just for the sake of some super cute photos of us in front of the Eiffel Tower or something:-( I wish though……

you could make a scrapbook-y style pic of you on the beach (or in front of the eiffel tower and send it out, so people will think of you. And then send them a postcard from the location!
