When did you start shopping for your wedding bands? The traditional “check lists” say start looking about 6 months before the wedding. Is that really neccessary? Don’t jewelry stores have them in stock? Or do they really need to be ordered?

Start shopping as soon as you want. We started around the 13 month mark and purchased the last one 5 months out. My idea was, whatever money I could spend sooner and part with the better.

We just purchased mine (9 months out), and we’ll purchase his sometime soon. Mine matches my e-ring, so that was obvious, and it was on sale.

Our wedding planner gave us a time line of having them purchased 5 months prior to the wedding.
But i want to buy them NOW so we can get christmas deals and also get that cost out of the way before the huge amounts due closer to the wedding.

@RiverBride13: We have only started looking online and we are at the 5-month mark. But we won’t seriously start looking until probably February, maybe?

We got ours a few weeks ago, at about 8 months out. We wanted to pay off as many things for the wedding as we could as early as we could so it just made sense. Now it’s just an issue of not wanting to wear my band constatnly though! haha

I knew which wedding band I wanted before we even got engaged. And little did I know DH had picked out the same band for me and made my ering to match it. We ordered my ering about 10 months out to beat the inevitable price hike. Mine had to be ordered in my size since it is an eternity band and can’t be resized and I have an in between size (4.75).
DH’s ring on the other hand took FOREVER for him to pick out. And we ended up having it custom made about 3 months before the wedding when we finally could agree on a ring for him.

I would go as soon as you can, just to be sure. We waited a little too long, and they could not cut down a ring for my husband in the store so it had to be ordered. It made it just in time, but was a bit stressful. You never know what will need to be special ordered, so you might as well go soon than later.

My jeweler told us 3 months for mine and a few weeks for his. We shopped for them around 6 months because I’m super picky and indecisive but ended up making a decision the same day on a ring they had in stock. Can’t wait to wear it!!!! I made FI leave it at the store until the wedding so I don’t wear it around all the time!

I’ve already chosen what I want, but my FIL is a jewller so he’s making it for me in the Summer (probably around June time) for our December wedding.

We purchased mine the same time that we purchased the e-ring, which was the beginning of June. Then we eloped at the end of July.

Chose mine awhile ago and was sure on what I wanted, and it as 16 months before our actual date. So whatever you can gt now and are sure on it, get it.

I randomly came across mine at an outlet in October, so we jumped on it. They had nice mens w-rings on sale too, but he wasn’t mentally prepared to go there yet (the man can research and overthink the hell of of something as simple as a movie or a book before he buys, let alone something that he’ll be wearing the rest of his life).

I don’t think it really and truly matters UNLESS you intend to have your W-Bands custom made… that can require a fair bit of time (a couple of months to happen)
In my case, we know we wanted to buy something “off the shelf”… so we started looking just a couple of weeks ago at the main stream jewellery stores (mall stores – chains – small family jewellers etc) … as someone else said, the Pre-Christmas Sales just were too hard to resist
It didn’t take long before we found something we both loved.
Lol, the good thing is, I don’t have to wait forever to wear it…
With my first marriage, my Ex-H bought me a Bridal Set (matching E-Ring & W-Band) and it sucked to have to put it away and not wear it for over a year !!
NOTE – Sizing may also be an issue for some folks even tho the ring is bought “off the shelf”. In my case, I am a perfect Size 7, so we were able to pick the ring and go.

We hadn’t even set a date yet when we got ours. It was right after Christmas, so the jewelry stores were having all kinds of sales.
