When to start looking at wedding rings?

Hmm..I feel like if you haven’t gotten a dress yet, that should be next. Those can take months to come in and it would be good to get a start on.

On the other hand, it doesn’t hurt to start looking at wedding bands and if you happen to find one you love great! But you have lots of time.

I just ordered my wedding ring, I’m 6 months away from the wedding.

Ohhh holiday deals! Good thinking! We still haven’t bought ours. Mine is simple, matches my e-ring. But his? Dunno yet! Never hurts to start looking I suppose. Your mind isn’t going to change much, will it? I’d be sooo tempted to start wearing it early with it in my possession for that long if I were you.

I’m tying the knot 5 months after you, and we just purchased our wedding rings. We did it because FI’s ring is from Etsy, and the shop owner only takes a certain number of orders a month, and I didn’t want to get locked out of getting the ring when wedding season ramps up next spring. And we got my ring at the same time because they already discontinued my ering style and I didn’t want them to do the same to the matching wedding band before I ordered it.

That’s a roundabout way to say Go for it! If he doesn’t seem interested, maybe take it in stride and head to the florist.

ETA: As PP mentioned, I’m terrified of wearing it before I’m supposed to be wearing it.

We already have ours, bought them much earllier than expected.  We just happened to go look one day and the one for me was on sale, the guy showing it mentioned the following week it would be discounted even more – so we went back to buy it.  Go ahead and look, but be open to buying now or later pending sales!

@urbanriceball:  Are you DIY a lot? Never too early to start that! Dress would be next I think. We looked at wedding bands just to get an idea of price, style but won’t be buying them for another few months.

We had our rings before we even picked our venue. I think we both knew what we wanted and just crossed it off the list first.

We bought ours last holiday season. It was an expense we could get out of the way early so we don’t have such a big expense all at once.

We bought mine in February because it was a limited made one. As for his we picked it out but we’re gonna check to see if it goes on sale during the holidays. If it doesn’t go on sale we’re getting it February the lastest.

I got engaged end of last year – I thought it’d be cool to look at wedding dresses in January.  Good thing too, because after all was said and done I picked up my dress (after alterations and fittings and such) in September!  So get on the dress, girl!

As for rings, they come in fairly quickly so I wouldn’t feel a rush but probably no more than 2-3 months before the wedding.

@luluvohn:  and by looking at I mean I just bought one because I really liked it, it was on sale, and I had a coupon code. Also if I don’t end up liking it in person (it was an online only ring) then I can return it. No harm in looking early.

@urbanriceball:  I would look at rings whenever you have a chance. Going to the mall, browsing online, etc., are all good ways to find out what you like and you can do it alone. Once you have an idea of which way you’d like to go, chat with FI about it. In the mean time, I’d start dress hunting and get a florist on board for sure!

@urbanriceball:  Me either intil I came across mine on helzbergs website but wasn’t available to purchase online. We end in to talk to them about and they told us it was a test piece and only 20ish were made. How it sold depends on if they will make it a reguar item. That was 9 months ago and last we knew no more had been made.
