Hello June Bees! So, my wedding is June 4th, and I know for sure i want to tone up my arms since they will be out, and i’d also like to lose maybe 10-15 lbs. When is everyone starting their weight loss journey? After the holidays? Should I start now? Please let me know!

I always think you should start NOW, whenever that is, and if you reach your goal early, you can always do maintenance and not feel any pressure! You have plenty of time to reach your goal in a healthy way so I would start now 🙂

I agree with everyone else, start NOW and then maintain once you hit your goal weight! That’s exactly what I’m doing!

@souliganprincess I’m planning on starting a serious exercise program in Jan. the only reason is because I’m pretty busy (2 jobs, full time school). So I barely have time just to relax. I can’t even imagine when I would go work out. For now, I’m trying to eat healthy and not snack as much. I’m considering getting a personal trianer too. I lost weight a few years back (20+lbs) in about 4 or 5 months with a personal trianer (1 session per month but she made up my weekly work out schedule) and eating healthier. But I also agree w/ hermitcrab if you have the time to start now, you should! Good luck!

I’m in the same boat! I started this week actually. I’ve bought healthier foods to eat, not really dieting. I’m going to set small goals for each month so that when the wedding comes I’ll have already been working on my fitness for 8 months. It should be much more managable than started a few months before. Good luck!!

I had the same goal number as you and started around this time last year for my April wedding. It was a great way for me to get in control before all the fattening holidays came upon me.
Like others have mentioned, I was at my goal well before my wedding date so I was in maintenance.
All my fittings were a breeze and I could relax a little, still enjoying myself on weekends.

I agree that the time is NOW to start getting healthier, but keep in mind that once you hit your goal, you don’t just maintain it for no reason. You must stick with the healthy habits to keep the weight off.

I started Weight Watchers on May 28 and my wedding is next weekend, I’ve lost a total of 17lbs! 🙂 Which is right around my goal weight.

There is no better time to start than now, even if you dont have time to exercise. 80% of your body is made in the kitchen (meaning the food you eat). Exercise helps get you those last lbs and also to maintain.
I really try to think of everything as a lifestyle because a diet to me indicates short term, and in reality we all want weight loss to be permanent. Thinking of it as a lifestyle will help us all realize that what we do 80-90% of the time will make up who we are and what we look like. That allows for a few splurges here and there.

@souliganprincess: I read your post and it was as if I had posted it. I am also a June 4, 2011 bride (TWIN) and am looking to loose between 10-20 lbs. I have my first appt to go dress shopping on 12/4/2010 (6 months from WDday) and I would like to loose some weight from now until then and then some. After reading all the post I have also decided to start my excersie routine this week. I have started to eat healthier and not eat anything after 7pm… GOOD LUCK on the weight loss any motivation helps…

Why leave for tomorrow what you can do today. That’s always my motto. Start now and it will be less pressure and easier on you.

i agree with starting now and just want to add that you most likely won’t have time to work out the month leading up to your wedding, so make sure you have enough time to plan your diet 🙂

I started a week ago and have lost 8 lbs on a awesome diet my MIL turned me on to. My wedding is June 18th 2011. We were actually already married by the courts last Dec of 09′. I have been on this diet many times, things just keep hapening where I will stop watching what I am eating and slip back into unhealthy habbits. I am 5′ 8″ and started at 165.8 I was as of yesterday 157 and I want to get down to 140-135. I had spinal surgery which is why we were legally married before the wedding (had to push it back for recovery) so I can’t really do much in the way of exercize other than walk. This diet I am on is from the national metabolic research centers, it is really easy to follow and you can tweak it to fit your needs. What I like most is you can cheat and most ppl don’t really see too much of a diff when they do! Let me know if anyone wants in on it.
