My doctor saw me as soon as I got my BFP with DD and had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks. He has since retired and I had to find a new doctor and in meeting with him I was told the same. A lot of doctors want to see you right away to accurately date the pregnancy.

I saw my family practicioner right after I first found out…around 6 weeks.

Here, you don’t get referred to an OB until 34 weeks or so..unless you have complications (which I did) so I saw my OB first at 22weeks.

With DD 1- 12 weeks, DD 2- 7 weeks because I was having complications, DD 3- 7 weeks for bleeding and then 10 weeks for my first appointment. I see a family practitioner.

After I got my BFP I went in for my first appointment, which was almost the 4 week mark. They just drew blood. Other than that they won’t see you until week 12. For me they made a special except because of my mother’s history of m/c.

I knew when my last period was (they will ask you) when I called and they told me they didn’t want to see me until I was at least 8 weeks along.  However, she must’ve messed up the math b/c the appointment was scheduled when I was 7 weeks 2 days.  I did see an OBGYN (I didn’t have one previously) and received a vaginal ultrasound to see the heartbeat.

I was seen at 6.5 weeks because I wasn’t sure when I conceived and they needed to date the pregnancy.

Generally they don’t want to see you until 8-10 weeks and I think that’s pretty standard.

I had a triple play of appointments:

– Now: a class for the newly pregnant: eat this not that!

– at 8 weeks: an appt with a nurse practitioner for bloodwork and exams (le vag, le boob)

– at 12 weeks: an appt with my OB
