We’ve done formal events for charity events and social gathering ball type things. Last winter was the last time.

I am an Older Bee (over 50)

Mr TTR and I have occasion to dress up several times a year… including formal wear / tuxedo & long gown (charity events, etc)

Last time for us was the 2 Formal Nights on our Honeymoon Cruise in January

Currently the next occasion on our social calendar is a Cancer Fundraiser in the Fall

I LOVE to dress up, always have.  Getting involved in such Fundraising Events in a community in particular is in my opinion a great way for a young married couple to expand their social circle, contacts, and in turn eventually advance their careers too (and it is an easy enough thing to do) while at the same time brings the bigger reward of doing something better for the world as well.

Truly a win-win… more couples should look at doing it.

@HonoraryNerd:  Before my current job, I worked in non-profit, so I had events to attend probably 4-5 times per year. Now it seems only for my birthday and theatre events.

My wedding 😛

I didn’t even go to prom, so I have been to very few dress-up events –maybe a couple balls for my sorority and a couple formal weddings.  When I was younger, I loved looking at dresses but actually wearing them wasn’t really my thing.  I was a total tomboy and I was tall/rail thin, nothing looked as good on me as on my curvy friends.

Let’s see, the last time was about three weeks ago at a summer ball (Fête Imperiale). Before that we had two events in May, a black tie dinner in April, nothing in March, two white tie balls in February, and a black tie ball in January. The next event will be this coming Saturday, and then things quiet down until November. My social calendar currently lists two events in November and three events, including a New Year’s Eve ball, in December. My husband and I have an active and formal social life, which means lots of opportunities to wear lovely frocks.
