Food for me personally wasn’t really that important but it was the only thing that my FI has been genuinely interested in so far. I just ended up letting him take control of the entire menu. He’s so excited about the food!

Absolutely! Although maybe half food and half wine? I think it’ll be 75% of our total in the end, totally worth it!

You can’t eat, drink and be merry without good alcohol and better food!  It’s not just you 🙂

I absolutely love good food! But, when it comes to the wedding, it just wasn’t realistic with our budget. We went with good (but not fantastic) food and a full open bar with top shelf liquor.

My biggest splurge was our photographer. That was hands down the most important to me.

I haven’t done any calculations on how much our food/drink is of our budget but we chose our venue soley because they provide a crap ton of food in their package!

We are having 12 different passed apps (all of which are heavy items and not like crackers and cheese or anything because appetizers are some of my FI and I favorite foods!) and two stations for cockatil hour as well.

We are also doing a full sit down meal, four flavors of cake, and having a waffle and ice cream station! For us we know a lot of our guests wont dance (because of age or shyness) so we wanted to go all out so they could really enjoy the night instead of doing like a photobooth or something (although they are awesome for those brides whose guests would use them!)

@nocleverbeepun:  I’m obsessed with our s’mores bar…does that count?! That’s the only food we are having though, so I guess that technically means I’m obsessed with our food. I have been searching for homemade, flavored marshmallow recipes to make, reading about other toppings (like jelly, pb, etc), asking everyone about their favorite candy bars, and looking into lots of other options people can use besides just plain graham crackers. I can’t wait to have TONS of options for people to try!

FI and I both have one thing that each of us weren’t willing to budge on – Food for him and photographer for me! FI refused anything except a sit down dinner and would not compromise on quality.

Luckily we both fell in love with the same venue 😉 FI fell in love with our venue because it is an award winning restaurant and I fell in love because it is a beautiful wedding venue with ample photography opportunities. Both sides win!

All of our food, drinks, alcohol, cake, and anything else edible [candy buffet, desserts] are all lumped into one sum for us.. which equals around 50% of the budget.

We are having good food, but nothing fantastic – fantastic food wouldn’t fit in our budget.

@nocleverbeepun:  Yep. We chose the venue so that we could work with their (pulled out of retirement!) executive chef to design a menu for us. He was fabulous, created exactly what we wanted and everyone has been talking about the food non-stop since. It really was fantastic. We also negotiated to take in our own wine so that we could get better quality for the same cost.

Yay to the foodies 🙂

@nocleverbeepun:  Hah, you understand then!  We’ve been joking that everything on our “things to do in town” section of the website involves eating or drinking, but that’s just how it is around here!  And I’m with you on the coffee and snacks for the non-dancers, that was an absolute requirement.  And as only someone who’s lived in the Midwest can understand, our late night snack is fried cheese curds 🙂
