I didn't pick a song that was 'our song' for our first dance so I didn't have emotions about it before I picked it. I haven't listened to it since the wedding though.
I feel the same way! When we first chose it I got all teary eyed each time I played it.
We had a couple we were debating on and we decided to dance to them to see how it felt. I sobbed my way through the first one and FI got all teary eyed so we had to pick it.
@bakerella--I got goosebumps just reading your post, that you both were emotional about the song and thatyour BM is singing you down the aisle. That is absolutely amazing!
I get all teary! I'm so excited to dance with my then hubby! FI danced with me to it on vday! :)
I bawl every time I hear. Well, maybe not bawl bawl, but I do that thing where my chin gets all wobbly and my eyes fog up.
Of course, that may be because the song was also used in a tearjerker moment in one of my favorite movies, but still. It's just beautiful.
@jrswiggy - I want to upgrade our photographer's package to include videography just to capture my BM singing me down the aisle. I'm so excited for it! Unless we win the lottery we're going to have to get a friend to tape it though, LOL!
Our first dance is going to be to 'Flightless Bird, American Mouth' by Iron & Wine. (Yup, we're 'Twilight' fans, please be nice and save the snide remarks. We're all friends here and, trust me, I've heard them ALL before.) But I do often listen to that song when I'm on the subway going to work, and it makes me feel all glowy and excited for when we'll finally dance to it on our wedding day. Less than 5 months to go!
I giggle a little when I hear ours. It's definitely different and definitely us ;o)
I totally get teary-eyed when I hear it! It's only on the radio every once in a while, but sometimes I sit at home and listen to it on You Tube.

For our first dance song we chose, "When God Made You" By Newsong and Natalie Grant. The first time I heard it on youtube I balled my eyes out. It's always in my head. I always get teary eyed when I hear it....
I totally agree with you! Our first dance song was "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones, and the beginning just gets to me. I start to smile right away and am immediately taken back to our first dance. It was so special for me b/c it was the very first time that we were alone with each other (even though there were a tone of eyes on us). We were able to just talk without anyone bugging us for a photo or to chat with them. It was the most perfect 3-4 minutes of our wedding :o)
I get teary eyed listening to ours!! I keep wondering if I'll be crying throughout our first dance. The first time we ever listened to that song together, we were both crying!! I hope I can keep it together ;]
There's a line in our song (Crazy Love by Michael Buble) that says, "And when I'm returning from so far away, she's gives me some sweet lovin to brighten up my day." That line right there sealed the deal for us and made me cry. Our whole relationship, we've been apart, even now that we're married, so I think we both felt a connection to the song....I can't WAIT until my husband can actually live with me!!!
I hear mine on the radio every once in a while and it's a real tear jerker for me! (Bryan Adams - Everything I Do, I Do it For You) I'm considering changing it so I don't break down in front of everyone at the reception! I'm definitely going to need a drink before this one.
I felt pretty settled on a song until the other day a song off an older album came on Pandora - I sat there sobbing like a littel baby and knew it was 'theone'!
ours is between two..norah jones "come away with me" because it holds sentimental meaning to us, when we first started talking we were in a LDR and i put that song on because i can play the piano to it and we both sang it together on the phone. it's soo sweet. then the other song is keith urban "only you can love me this way" almost every time i hear it i cry and my hubby tears up. we just haven't totally made our mind up. i know, i don't even have to guess, i'll be crying during our first dance..and the father daughter dance lol
Ours is not one that is played on the radio too often - but it was actually on today. =) Made me smile....

I'm wondering how many other bride to be's (or those who are married), get a "feeling" when you hear what is to be (or what was) your first dance song? Ours is not something that you will hear on the radio, so every once in a while I play it from my computer and I get teary eyed even though our wedding is seven months away. It's a song my FI picked out and I just love it and can't wait to be dancing as husband and wife!
