I just wanted to share some really happy news (and I can’t tell anyone else at this point, as we’d like to keep it a surprise until we’ve conceived and made it through the first trimester). My husband and I were going to wait until September to TTC. However, Saturday a friend asked us when we were going to start trying (it is a very close friend, obviously!). My husband said, “Probably starting during our vacation.” It took a bit to sink in that our vacation is next month, so I brought it up to him yesterday. “When you said we’d TTC during our vacation, which vacation were you talking about?” “The one next month.”
This conversation happened in the soda aisle of Target, of all places! I was going to buy some Diet Coke, and DH said that we should look for something without caffeine, so that I could ween myself off of it. I asked why, and he gave me a look and said, “Baby. “Me: “Huh?” Him: “No, I’m not calling you ‘baby’…I’m saying ‘BABY’!!!”
I ran over and hugged him so hard, and was giggling and crying right in the damn soda aisle!! I’m on cloud nine today!! I’m 30, he’s 28…we’ve been married a year and we’re both ready…it was just SO AMAZING to hear him say that he was REALLY READY instead of just a plan in the distant future!!! It makes me so much less nervous about the whole idea of becoming a parent to know that he is really excited about it,.. 🙂
I was just bursting to tell someone!! Anyone else want to share how your “I’m ready” conversation came about?? How did you react?

Awww! This is so cute, and I’m glad you shared!! I won’t have a moment like that because FI wants kids like, yesterday. It is super nice to have them so excited though!

@mrs_pugetsound: Congratulations. That is very sweet! Enjoy these moments. You will never forget them. I can still remember the butterflies that lasted for days after DH and I had the “lets start a family” talk.

That’s so sweet! I hope it’s an easy and smooth journey for the both of you 🙂

That is so exciting – good luck!! 🙂

Congrats!!! Have you ever read about zinc improves the egg and sperm quality? Try it, and also make sure you’re taking a folate before you conceive for neural tube development.

Thank you all for letting me share the happy bubble I’m in today with you!! This is why I love the Bee so much…everyone is so supportive and great! 🙂
It is so funny, but I had a dream about a blue-eyed baby boy last night, and someone was going to feed the baby coffee (okay…it was a really weird dream!!), and I just reached out and grabbed the little guy and said “He can’t have coffee. He’s just little.” And I felt such a strong attachment like I’ve never felt before and desire to keep him safe from everything…such a funny dream, but so real at the same time! Now I KNOW dreams are byproducts of your thoughts during the day!!
@SurferB: Thanks for the info about the zinc!! I want to be in the best physical state possible for this. I’ll definitely be looking into it! I have been religiously taking my prenatal gummy vitamins and iron pills for about nine months now…but just recently switched my prenatals to ones with DHA in them (had no idea about this stuff, so I’m all ears!!!!). 🙂

@mrs_pugetsound: DHA is vital for the developing brain! Good choice! You seem to be doing the right things! Just make sure you have a high-quality prenatal from somewhere like Whole foods, or a health food store. DHA sometimes is rancid from drug stores(walgreens, walmart, cvs, etc), so that’s why I recommend Whole Foods brand. Plenty of fruits and vegetables, and healthy fats! Don’t be afraid of eating plenty of essential fats like nuts, organic eggs, seeds, etc.

@SurferB: Thanks for all the tips on healthy foods…and I didn’t know DHA could go rancid…yikes!!! I guess it is time for me to explore the TTC boards a lot more now (though I’ve been stalking them for a few months now). I bought TTOYF and “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”…if anyone else has recommendations for helpful books, I’d love to hear them!!
LOL…I feel like I’m going to have to put our Keurig in storage now in order to stop having easy access to coffee…or throw it off our balcony!!! Meh…perhaps just buying decaffeinated K-cups would be a better option… =P
