I love Kindred Oaks! Just went to a wedding there in August - it's so cute!
We're getting married at Vintage Villas - I am so excited!
I'm not in Austin, but I am gonna watch this post because my best friend, one of my BMs, is an Austinite and though she's not engaged, I am guessing it may happen soonish and I need to be ready to help her =D Hehe...
No other Austinites? I was pretty excited about hearing where everyone is getting married!!
OK, well you all probably/might know that I got married at Barr Mansion. It's awesome! So is Mercury Hall. I wish I would've known about it before I booked my venue. Also, Villa Antonia is beautiful.
Hi! This is my first post, although I frequent the blog a lot :)
We are getting married at Lakeway Resort. We also considered Vintage Villas & The Driskill, but Lakeway was too pretty for us to pass up!! :)
Hopefully Barr Mansion! That is what the current plans are.. if not there, then probably kindred oaks.
I actually have my heart set on a semi-destinationish location..
It isn't really a 'destination' like a beach or Europe but it isn't anywhere near Austin, and I love the place so so much. It is in Maryville, TN.
OOOOO I am going to a wedding at kindred oaks in june! Im so excited it looks so pretty.
My BFF Is getting married at Villa antonia on lake travis! soooooooo pretty
We had our reception at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. We LOVE Texas History and were excited to find a unique location in the heart of Austin!
Ok, if I was getting married in Austin, I would be getting married at Laguna Gloria. I love that place. But I picked Dallas, even though I live in Austin.
My FI and I are getting married in Vegas (my hometown) but we are having a reception here in Austin in January. We are holding it at Scholtz's in downtown. GREAT food and super reasonable prices :)
@frozen yougurt I love laguna too! Gorgeous!!
Well I'm not from Austin but getting married in Fredericksburg at Hangar Hotel. The FI is a pilot so he is in love with all the airplanes on the property. I love themed weddings because I'm a theater person so this was a perfect fit for us. We are having the RD at Grape Creek vineyard which is so pretty part of me wishes we were having the reception there too because it is so nice and peaceful under the oak trees!
We are going to be the very first wedding for our brand-new venue. So I'm saving any discussion of the venue until after the wedding is over and I can talk about how it actually went and how they handled their first wedding...
We just got married at the Inn at Wild Rose Hall & LOVED it!!
@Amanda.lynn: we came so close to going with Vintage Villas, its lovely!
We are getting married at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and then doing the reception at the Salt Lick Pavilion!!!
@Irish. Salt Lick is the BEST!!! We tried to have our RD there, but couldn't :( so my husbands parents went with the Green Mesquite.
@vintage2010: We attended a wedding there and it was beautiful.
We also attended a wedding the weekend before ours at the Nimitz Museum Ballroom (ceremony was outside) and it was really lovely too.
I have a friend getting married at the Terrace Club (near Dripping Springs) next April and I hope to post pictures of that wedding for reference.
I really, really, really wanted to have our wedding at Mercury Hall (off of S. First), but it was too small to accomodate our guest list. It is such a quaint venue and the outdoor lawn is beautiful with huge trees that would be perfect for an outdoor ceremony. The owner seemed really laid back and easy to work with.
The other really cool place we looked at was Chapel Dulcinea/ Tuscan Hall.
And to answer the question: We had our ceremony at the church I have attended since I was 5 and the reception was at Waterford House- I'm in the process of writing a review for them so I would recommend you read that if you're interested/ when it has posted.
St. Austin's with the reception at Zilker Clubhouse. AMAZING views of downtown, and not REALLY Westlake-y if you catch my drift. Not that there's anything wrong with Westlake it's just not really us.
@daisie -FI and I looked at the Zilker clubhouse.. it's cute! I like that you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, instead of right in downtown :)
We live in Dallas but getting married at Chapel Dulcinea... I'm looking for a modern/trendy space for our reception. Anyone have suggestions?
We are getting marred in a church (either St. Catherine of Siena or the Cathedral) and having our reception at The LBJ Wildflower Center!!!
@daisy and @irish: when are you ladies getting married? i am having issues with the timing on a saturday in the Church.... either 2 or 7 and I have no idea what to do!! Suggestions?
@Miss Dulcinea Here's a HUGE list of Austin Wedding Venues. Hopefully you can find what you need!
@msashbash: My FH and I had the same debate. We settled with going for a 2 o'clock wedding. I just didn't want to be taking our pictures in the dark, and then we would be eating so late. Then we are going to do cocktails at like 5:30 and then dinner at 6:30. There's going to be a gap, but we figured our guest can entertain themselves for a couple of hours. A few of my friends just went to the same type of wedding and they said they enjoyed the gap. Gave them time to watch some football :)
I'm getting married at The Allan House. So far I absolutely adore it. The people are super helpful and I am tickled to death with the charm that it has. February 20th- YAY I CAN'T WAIT!!!! P.S. We get a clear heated tent with the deal with twinkle lights and everything. Yippy Skippy!!
We're heading to Hawaii for our wedding/honeymoon in May.
We're getting married at St. Austin and having the reception at the UT Alumni Center.
As for the timing of Catholic ceremonies, we also decided to go for the 2pm service. Our cocktail hour starts at 6:30, giving our guests time off between the ceremony and reception. We're going to book some bowling lanes at the alley in the UT Union, and our block of rooms is at the AT&T Center, which is in between the two locations. I figure that since we'll be on campus, our guests can walk around easily! I'm planning on giving them a list of recommended places (museums, shops, etc) where they can spend some time.
We had our wedding at Kali-Kate, which is right by Chapel Dulcinea. I don't think they've updated their website since the 80s, but I promise you it's gorgeous in person! We had our rehearsal dinner (because I am a glutton for punishment, and needed to have two hands-on events in one weekend) at Mayfield Park. I am pretty sure it's Austin's best-kept secret; it is the way cheaper, much less restrictive, but slightly less lovely (but with peacocks!) version of Laguna Gloria. It's actually right next door to Laguna Gloria, which I loved, but couldn't justify price wise. Also, I wanted to be able to bring in our own alcohol and pick a caterer of choice. The rental fee? $1,000 for more or less the whole day. The only downside-- acoustic music only. But we found a great acoustic band, so it was awesome!
@Beav1279 - Thank you for posting that link to that HUGE list of Austin wedding venues! Such a time saver! So many beautiful wedding locations in Austin!
I got married at Star Hill Ranch. Amaaaazing! The owner is great to work with. Very accomodating and helpful! Plus, he let us set up on Friday (the day before our wedding) since there was no event that day!
I see this was bumped, so I'll comment! It was mentioned before, Mercury Hall! very excited...

I was just curious where ever else is getting hitched or dancing the night away.
I'm doing it all at Kindred Oaks, in Georgetown.
