aloha! :) I went to a wedding last summer up country about a mile or two down from V-land, toward Kahuku, and it seemed like a great semi-private venue for what we have to choose from on island. The ceremony was on the edge of the lawn, so on the beach without being on the sand, and had a good area for a reception on site too. I think it was about $2500, which honestly is pretty close to most comparable ceremony/reception venues I have been looking at on the mainland (we live here but are getting married in Portland, OR where his family is). I've never heard of a decent place for $500... don't be too sad! ;) PM me if you want the info on that venue & I can get it from my friend for you.
Thanks! Holy - 2500. We actually just checked out Kualoa - they have two site that are 1200 and 1500. So that's doable, I think.
Haha. Oh the price of paradise, eh? Good lucky on planning-from-a-distance! And good to know that prices here aren't as high as I thought.
Really!? Wow that is shocking to me since activities/tourist stuff at Kualoa is pricey. Maybe the other place is that much more because it's waterfront? It also includes some things like tables and such, I'm pretty sure.
OH ps, we literally just changed our minds last night and are now getting married on island. Haha! Although we actually are going to get married at our horse ranch in Kahuku which will be free for us. Well it's not ours, but it's where we keep our horse. But, we are going to be taking over the ranch in the next year (leasing it) and actually want to run a wedding venue there after we're able to buy the property. Too bad your wedding isn't a bit further out, we'd give you a great deal!! :)
Aw bummer! That's awesome for you though! That's awesome that your site will be free. That will make the cost of all the rentals more palatable. I think it's going to actually be cheaper to have the wedding at Aloha Tower (and they provide much more support) surprisingly.
Awesome that you'll be staying on island - you can't beat the weather or the location, right?
if you have a family member thats in the military, hale koas pricing wasn't that bad. Its in waikiki (which was something i wanted to avoid) but the pricing was so good we couldnt pass it up. but on the up side, it hardly rains in waikiki. *fingers cross*
=]
I think Hale Koa was one of the few venues we were considering in Waikiki - mostly because of the price. Ms Bittermelon, is that where you're having your wedding?
I am actually, my fiance really liked the banyan ballroom and it was affordable so we decided to just go with it. Even though i am really nervous of having an outdoor ceremony, hopefully it wont rain on us!
Hale Koa is affordable, no tax too because it's a military venue. A lot of people here get married in Waikiki in a beachfront hotel venue so you could start pricing places like the The Westin Moana Surfrider. You might also check on the Waikiki Aquarium but you'd have to rent/bring everything in...sorry, not that affordable when you total it up but maybe they have packages now.

Living in Hawaii isn't cheap. And this local girl is getting tired of seeing venue after venue cost an arm and a leg. When I read posts by folks on the mainland saying they're renting their ceremony/reception venues for under $500 - and it's gorgeous, includes a bajillion ammenities - it makes me a little sad.
Oh the price you pay to live i paradise, eh? Not to mention get married in paradise.
Anyone got any ideas? I've researched Bishop Museum, Aloha Tower, pretty much every country club on Oahu, Heeia State Park, and Kualoa Ranch.
