    I'm here!

    I'm procrastinating!

So far we have the venue (my parents' plantation home), church (but no officiant), photographer (Matt Miller- super awesome, works with Our Labor of Love http://www.thefivemilegrace.com/photoblog/ ), smilebooth (!!!), event planner/caterer, and ceremony musicians booked.

We're meeting with a dj (Mike Zarin) on Friday, and I think we're going to hire him. If we don't, I'm going to need some major suggestions for djs!

There's so much I have left to do! I'm not sure what the next thing on my radar should be. We're getting married in June, so stuff is getting booked quickly. Cake? Florist? Dress?

Hey GGSB!  Just tackling a few things on the home front right now!  Son went back to school last week, he is in boy scouts (just signed up last night for Webelos) and I've been dealing with my grandparents right now and they're both very very ill.

Will be doing the great ATL bee meet up in September btw!

Once I get a few more things out of the way (son's birthday party next week and then we're going out of town for Labor Day) that will be the next focus!

Hopefully we can get to wedding planning in the near future!  I'm stubborn and won't do a thing until we're formally engaged.  He knows this.

I have the Church, Priests, Venue (Carlyle House), Dress, BM dresses, DJ (Black Tie Events).  We set up the food/cake tasting this week to take place in October and I will hopefully have the STDs out by the end of the month.  The Carlyle House does food and both cakes so that is already done too-just have to pick out the flavors and look.

We've picked out the look we'd like to go with for the Groomsmen, just a matter of fighting mall traffic!

Still working on Florist and Photographer and Invitations.  Any suggestions?? The ceremony is in Dunwoody and the reception is in Norcross (though I think we will be taking care of all the centerpieces)

Oh I feel like I'm forgetting so much!! And it's overwhelming with the 6 month mark approaching-not to mention the start of football season!!

Hi Atlanta brides!  I'm planning from Arizona, so my mom is helping SO MUCH.  We've got a venue (Smith Gilbert Gardens) and photographer (Studio B) picked out - haven't signed the contracts yet, just from sheet procrastination.  But I've got a dress, and know where I want to order my flowers (they'll be ordered wholesale, and arranged by my cousin), and we've got a preacher!

Our guest list is a source of distress, like everyone.  I want to invite everyone I know and love, but that list gets pretty big, pretty fast, and my fiance (and I) want to have a smaller, more intimate wedding.  I'm sure we'll get there.

Oh yeah, I ordered STD's from Vistaprint for... FREE!  They've got a promotion right now where postcards are free, so I designed a cute little thing in an hour, uploaded it, and they should be delivered wtihin the month.  Sweet price, and it's nice to have something off of the stationary list.  I didn't realize how much freaking paper is associated with weddings, you know?  :)

Anyhow, I'm blabbing on now.  What I really want recommendations for is an Atlanta hairstylist/makeup artist.  I'm not good with makeup, so I'd really like someone to help me with it for my wedding.  Anyone know someone who's nice, into natural makeup, possibly does hair too, and would come to my house?

Thanks ladies!  It's good to see some Atlanta activity!

For Atlanta photographer, anybody from OLoL is amazing.

    www.ourlaboroflove.com

Also, where are good places in Atlanta to make appointments for dress shopping? I know that we'll do Priscilla of Boston, because I'm in love with Vineyard. But some other places as well, maybe with Amsale or Vera?

I have a friend who is an amazing florist!  When she works and does freelance her prices are amazing for her talent.  She usually works with a large wedding planning group and of course when she does that her prices shoot up.

There's a priscilla of Boston salon in buckhead btw!  Also there's a designer resale shop there too! (adressforless) .  The Demetrios salon is also in buckhead and I'll try to find out some more!

    Thanks, bellenga!

I forgot about the Demetrios salon! My mom wants us to go to impressions bridal salon ( http://www.impressionsbridalsalon.com/index.html ) She's apparently had eleventy billion people tell her to go there. Heard anything good/bad about it? I can drool over the Reem Acra and Lhuillier.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to do the designer resell, because I don't think I'll be able to buy a dress off the rack. :( I'm 6'3", which is perhaps a little taller than average. :p

Time is flying! It's nearly here!!!! And I'm in a panic....

My invitations are being designed and of course my designer was great until about three weeks ago, when she suddenly became very flaky. I'm supposed to have a sample in my mailbox today and barring any changes, she swears she will have them to me by Monday, which gives me a few weeks to get them out. I'm so excited to see them!!

We have the venue (Dallas Theatre), the DJ, the officiant, the bouts, I have my first dress fitting this saturday, I just bought my shoes, I have my wedding day jewelry, my BM bouquest picked out.... almost all of the music finished. I need to finalize the centerpieces and buy more candy for the buffet, print out my water bottle labels... I'm almost finished DIY'ing (I think). My maids need dresses... oh yeah, I have to find a new maid.. my sister bailed on me. I had my bach. party last saturday.... Oh god, listing all of this just made me feel panicky! We don't even have our rings picked out yet!!!

*Sticks head in tentatively* Can I be considered an ATL bride??

Everyone on the TN board is from Nashville or Knoxville and I've only driven through Knoxville once and went to Nashville when I was really young. But I go to ATL all the time. Just this last weekend I was there for a Braves game and Maggiano's in Buckhead. And I'm going next weekend to Bridals by Lori.

    Can I pweeease? :D :D

Aw heck of course you can be a hotlanta bride!  Lemme guess.  You're near chattanooga right?

I love that city!  Used to be a member of the aquarium there and we had a prolonged labor day getaway there last year!

@ happy2gether: we are using Edge Design as our florist. They are amazing and have packages for girls on a budget (www.daddysgotabudget.com) or you can look at their regular packages at www.edgedesignatlanta.com

I'm not exactly an Atlanta Bride because we are getting married 2.5 hours outside of ATL. We have almost everything booked except for our officiant, which is really stressing me out!

I went to Bride Beautiful in ATL the other day to look for a dress and they are great! I didn't end up buying my dress there but I would definitely recommend them :) I'm glad we have some ATL bees on here to share ideas with!

hehe yes Bellenga, good ol' Chattanooga. :)
I love our aquarium but I have to say Georgia Aquarium is better...but thats because otters are pretty much my favorite animals besides giraffes. And GA has two species of otters :) while TN only has one, and only two otters of that kind...and they're always sleeping. lol!
Plus GA has 2 kinds of whales...that trumps pretty much everything if you can fit 2 kinds of whales in your aquarium lol!!

@fiftyfootbride - you might end up having to order "extra length" but no one seemed to think it would slow the ordering process down too much when my 6 foot friend was dress shopping.  She actually ended up buying off the rack from David's bridal of all places :)  Good luck this week dress shopping!!

@ggsb- Thanks. :) Another thing I'm scared of is the scary difference between street size and bridal size. I've seen it where there were 4 sizes different on some. The numbers make me nervous.:)

I need to go to David's Bridal as well sometime. I have heard so many people say that they'd never thought they'd get a dress there, but did and had a great experience.

@ fiftyfootbride - just don't look at the size they bring you and pretend all the samples that are a bit too small are all a size 0. ;)

My suggestion with David's is when you sign-in just make sure you find the spot where you can opt-out from mailings, etc.  Otherwise you'll be bombared with calls/emails/postal mailers until after your wedding date.  I did have a pleasant experience with my saleslady at the kennesaw store...Kim I believe was her name.  My only problem with them was all the junk mail/emails/phone calls.

I'm still here! I was busy graduating from UGA and moving to Lexington, KY, but now that I'm settled in Lexington I should be on here more. I was actually just back in Atlanta this weekend for my friends wedding, and it got me so excited for mine even though it's so far away!

I recently hired my caterer, which means I only have the florist, cake, and hair/makeup person left to do. Oh, and invitations. And have to actually put in the bridesmaids dress orders and groomsmen suits. And all the little details/DIY projects. Hm.. guess I have more left than I thought :-)

@fiftyfootbride - my dress size was four sizes larger than my street size, and she took it up maybe two sizes... and at last fitting (last saturday!! woot!!!) it was STILL too big. But blame that on my need to run to release pent up energy - she told me to stop until after the wedding so she wouldn't have to continue to take up the dress. No way, sister.

Ack, I've gotten so much done this week, I can *almost* breathe. I've ordered the invites (um, finally), figured out my escort card board, ordered my gift to my groom, ordered my something old (I heart Etsy), almost finished the bouts, bought my garters and started "embellishing" them, ordered scoops for the candy jars, and.... well, that's all. But it's a lot for me! Of course, I've totally neglected school work. That's how it goes. One or the other.

    Update:

Bridals by Lori was fantastic. It was the first place we went, and ended up being the only place we went (for my dress, actually). Ordered the Maribel by Christos. ( http://www.christosbridal.com/gowns/2009/maribel.shtml ) I had to do it fully custom though because proportionally for my height just adding on 5" in length wouldn't work. The waist would have been in the wrong spot. :p

David's Bridal gave me a migraine. No joke. It was like a polyester nightmare. I was really sad. I had held out hope for it. I honestly couldn't find one bridesmaid dress that I liked. We're doing LBDs. I just got a rec for Bella Bridesmaid, and I'm pretty pumped to go there. They have some great designers. :)

@fiftyfootbride    Oh, hell. That dress is FAB. Seriously, I'm kind of jealous.

I'm doing LBD's too, but only have two attendants so I said screw it, we'll just buy different ones. Thanks for the tip on Bella. I've heard good things about that place.

We might do just non-bridesmaid LBDs. Hopefully Bella will work well! I probably need to lay off looking for bridesmaids dresses-- there are some other pressing matters to deal with. :p

I'm thinking Sunday b/c it's not a wedding day primarily (Saturdays) and it's not on an SEC football day (saturday).

I'm inviting my two new bride buddies IRL from work (both are seniors in their college program) to come also!  One's already surfed the 'Bee but will be back to register and get active (she's so fun!).

Tell me more about Bella bridesmaids ok?  I saw pics of some of their dresses in a beach layout in Emerald Coast Brides and they looked great!
