Venice...ohh I'm sooo jealous! I'm getting married in Hawaii, planning from the East Coast. Although I did used to live in Hawaii, so I'm not totally in the dark, but it still presents its challenges! Maybe 5 guests are from Hawaii, for everyone else it will be their first time on the island. Maybe destination brides should have their own board?!
I'm a destination bride too...we are getting married in Isla Navidad Mexico next April. We are relying totally on contacts with our resort and travel agent to help implement what we want for our wedding...casual, fun, and intimate...with a touch of glam! Right now I am in the process of trying to find the right destination dress...what are y'all planning on doing for a gown?
Destination bride here also! We're getting married on Grand Cayman in December 30 (133 days away!). We've been to the island five times in the past several years for family vacations, so we're all familiar and comfortable with the island.
My main headache is airfare! We had about 45 people booked and ready to go until two months ago, when Spirit Air pulled its service from Detroit. Now we have 15 people without tickets and airfare is SO high right now. Their flights on Spirit were about $600...you can't find anything for less than $1000 these days. Argh!
Re: NDTexas -- my gown is Nicole Miller, style CO0025. I highly recommend Nicole Miller dresses. Great prices, casual but glam.
I'm loving Miss Sea Breeze's posts. Yay DW brides!
Another DW bride here! We are getting married on Isla Mujeres, Mexico in Jan. '09 with planning from Oregon! I decided to *gulp* not go the resort route, and have picked a private home on the beach for the ceremony and reception site. Its been quite a chore brining in ALL outside vendors! Thanks for the posts and support fellow DW'ers!
I'm a DW Bride also! Getting married in Oct in Cancun Mexico. Does anyone have experience with an Apostille Seal needed for their birth certificates? More so, naturalization papers...Any adopted DW Brides having issues not having a birth certificate?!
Hi Tulips! I was a Destination Wedding bride too. I got married last year in Rome and honeymooned in Venice. It was one of the most amazing times of my life. If anyone is contemplating on getting married in Rome or planning a wedding there, I'm here for moral support!
Tulips and BonVivant Press, I'm an Italy DW bride also! We are getting married at a villa outside of Florence on May 12, 2009! BonVivant, I would LOVE to see your pics and hear details! Our wedding website with Italy details: www.bkwedding.com
I'm a destination bride too! All of your destinations sound so dreamy. We are getting married in Inlet Beach, Florida on April 4, 2009!
I'm getting married in Antigua, Guatemala in just three weeks. I had been planning the wedding from New York until five months ago, when I relocated. As for getting the birth certificate "legitimized," I had to first get in authenticated by the state in which I was born and then I had to bring it to the Guatemalan consolate in the US. Good luck to all the destination brides!
Everyone is getting married in such lovely places. Can I be invited? Just kidding. :o) Stephandjason, you and I are wedding day twins. (I was married on April 4 last year. Fun fact: Beyonce and Jay-Z also share our wedding date.) Katio, I love the website! A villa in Florence is so romantic. How fun to be able to take over the villa with your family and friends. I’ll definitely share some of my pictures tonight. Laurel, good luck! 3 weeks…you must be so excited!
Hi everyone! I was a DW bride! We got married in Cancun on 8/8/8 with about 36 guests. I opted to do the legal part in US and just had the ceremony & reception in Cancun to keep things easier. (To avoid issues like if I ever need another copy of the marriage certificate, I dont have to fly down there to get it). Having the DW wedding was soo much fun. I'll be glad to share my experience and answer any questions.
PS: Remind your family & friends to check their passport earlier! One of our guests found out their passport was expired on the day she was flying out so she couldnt make it!!
Woot woot, DW gals! Dunno if we can have a DW forum or not - maybe if there's enough demand? (be sure to leave a comment if you're a DW bride!) At any rate, we can definitely support and high-five each other here. I love answering Qs whenever I can! :)
I think a DW forum would be great! There are lots of vendors that specialize in destination weddings, so we could exchange vendor ideas like the local boards. Also, it would be a great jumping-off point for brides that are still undecided on their destination!

I love the Bee site, but I am feeling kind of lonely here. I am so happy for all the Brides out there, but I am also feeling kind of left out here because I am planning a destination wedding in Venice in 2009. So, I just wanted to see how many of us DW brides are out there to give myself and others a supportive boost. Are you a DW bride too?
