I gave my guests over a month and I only got only about 50% by the due date. A few came the week of the due date. My fiance (husband now) and I had to contact each person who didn't respond individually to check if they were attending. There were also a handful (about 5) that either the invitation or the rsvp wasn't delivered by the post office.
From what I hear from other brides, this happens to everyone, so hang in there.
TallBride,
I am in nearly the same boat as you. Invites went out the week of Thanksgiving in RSVPs are due by Jan 16. So far I have gotten about 25% response, and I have actually had a few people tell me they are coming but won't be sending the RSVP card because they want to keep it! ![]()
I imagine I will have lots of phone calls to make MLK weekend!
Such is the life of a bride I suppose.
Good Luck!
We probably got about 20% of ours in the first two weeks. Then it slowed way down, until the last week, when we got about 30% of them. Another handful came the week after (apparently those people thought the RSVP date was the "post-marked by" date). And we had to call less than 10%. So what you are experiencing is probably about the same.
Out of 150 invites sent, I had only half back by the date I asked them for, which was two weeks ago. I'm still having them come in, and I'm still missing a handful, despite messages left and emails sent. I'm counting them as a no, and saving an extra table just in case they decide to show up, as my caterer will charge me extra if I need to lower my number of guests after the 8th of January. I forget who wrote the blog, but the "Rules To Live By" after being a bride sure hits home!
It's probably hard with the holidays here.. hopefully they will roll in once january comes! You might have to wait a week or so after your due date... but i'd say after a week or so after your due date it might be time to start calling! Split up your list of calls so that its not overwhelming... assign your family members closest to the delinquent guest to the call. It makes the job quick and painless!
You are going to have to spend a day or two calling everyone on the list that has not RSVP'd. I had my fmil call her side and my mom and I called our side. People are forgetful and they don't really understand ettiquite. Good luck.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
We sent our invitations (including RSVP cards, stamped and addressed) before Thanksgiving (extra early due to the holidays) Our deadline to RSVP is Jan 3rd.
We have only received 60% of the responses... will 40 RSVPS really come in the mail in the next week??? Anyone have a similar situtation? what happened?
TIA!!!
