I have a quick question about wine. I opened a large bottle of Riesling last weekend towards the end of the evening for some guests. We never finished it.
I usually don’t have this problem since wine only lasts a few hours in my home, but will it still be good this weekend?
I know a corked bottle would not, but I don’t really know anything about screw tops.

Should be fine so long as you put the cap on and kept it in the fridge. It won’t taste exactly the same but it should taste just fine.

Irishb: Riesling is my FAVORITE! Provided you have kept it upright, with a cap of some sort and refrigerated it should be okay. I don’t like to push it past about 3-5 days but it is worth a try!

If it’s in the fridge it should be fine, cork or not. It might not taste perfect but it won’t hurt you.

Irishb: You should be good!
Yum, Riesling is my third favorite wine after Moscato and (don’t hate, lol) White Zinfandel – seriously the winery by the in-laws has the most amazing White Zin. 🙂

Irishb: Yeah, should be fine if you’ve kept the cap on and it in the fridge – as PPs have said!
Gave up wine for Lent and I’m really starting to miss it!

I’m still impressed that you had a bottle of wine that was left unfinished.

chronicwhimsy: OMG, you are a better woman than me. I aimed to give up booze and chocolate for Lent, but then one of my animals got deadly ill, and I started drinking again to deal with the stress
I do at least feel suitably guilty though…

Yeah I can usually get a week out of a chilled open bottle of white. Maybe 4 days out of a red. Nothing wrong with tasting it, it’s not going to make you sick if it went bad it just tastes gross.

I totally don’t care, I’d drink it ages later. I assume I’d notice if it had gone truly bad but, you know, maybe I wouldn’t. 😛
