What type of photos are you looking for? I assume you’re going for outdoor photos? SO MANY people focus on Balboa Park & the beach! Lake Murray is pretty, or any of the smaller lakes around SD, really. Or We took some at Mission Trails Park that I liked. Torrey Pines trails is pretty and has the ocean without being the BEACH. But it is also CRAZY busy.  You could do some downtown in the Gaslamp, I have seen some awesome ones taken there, also.

What about Coronado? I’m not sure about architecture style, but the Hotel del Coronado is a beautiful historic building!! It is technically on the beach but you don’t need to go on the beach, that place is huge! You could also take photos walking around town, it’s a cute little beach town, or on the opposite side of the island from the Hotel Del you can take pictures on the harbor with the skyline in the background! aldo, I think their visitor center may be neoclassical? (I could be way off, but I thought that’s what I read!) Anyways here’s some examples (I know some are technically beach shots)

@HeartsandSparkles:  We did our first shoot at the ferry landing in Coronado. Some of my favorites has downtown behind us. We didnt’ do any beach shots, but I’ve seen that done too. But that breaks your beach rule.

La Jolla would be a nice setting too. I’m not sure if you/your photographer is against water or the actual beach, but if you go to La Jolla by Scripps Forum, there is the pier as well as some cliffs to take some awesome water/sunset photos.

@HeartsandSparkles:  FI and I are sort of revisiting our big relationship spots, or as many as we can given that we moved up north for college and can’t go back there to take more pictures.

We’re going to start at our high school, where we met. Then we’ll go to the restaurant where we had our first date. Maybe the cul-de-sac where we had our first kiss. Finally the comic book shop we hang out at all the time.

Carlsbad flower fields (if in bloom), Chicano Park with all the murals, the water conservation gardens at Cuyamaca College (they close at 4pm), atop Mt. Helix or Mt. Soledad could be gorgeous, Spruce Street bridge, lake Murray, the embarcadero, sunset cliffs, OB pier, windansea beach, glider port…who the heck doesn’t like the beach???  You can also do them along the train tracks in Torrey Pines.  That would be amazing!!

None of these are really beaches per se…but the ocean is sometimes involved. Hahah!
