I'm getting married at Capilano Suspension Bridge and having the reception at the Beach House in West Van. We started looking after living in Vancouver for two months and we had no idea what we were doing! I'm happy to share my random stumblings through Vancouver. What are you looking for? What have you seen that isn't right for you? What size party are you trying to accomodate? When is your wedding?
We're getting married at Minoru Chapel with the reception at the UBC Boathouse (in Richmond). I wanted to stay away from country clubs, and I really wanted to get married at the Vancouver Maritime Museum, but my fiance vetoed it as 'too Canadian' (he's an American)
We're getting married at the Diamond Alumni Centre on SFU campus (Burnaby Mountain). If you are an alumni of SFU, or if a family member or friend is, then you receive a discount on the rental rate! They don't show very many pictures on their website, but it's definitely worth a visit for the view alone. There are a few pics on my blog if you want to take a peek. They are a bit small though. If you want larger pics, I can always send them to you once I get home from work :)
We're getting married at my parents farm in Richmond, Michigan. I grew up there, and while we looked at beautiful venues in Detroit... they didn;t have the meaning of my childhood home. We're having a tented reception immediatley following the wedding
We are getting married at the Fort Langley Community Hall. It is a beautiful heritage building :) I love it!!
We're getting married at Hycroft Manor and reception is at Capilano Country Club. But check out my blog... I've listed all the places I was considering and their prices etc.
Thanks for the responses so far!
GB: great questions. Churches are out (FH is not religious), and we're not keen on golf courses or private clubs. We're probably looking at 50-60 people. We'd like a place with some character, and most importantly GREAT food or the ability to bring in a great caterer. We haven't finalized a date yet, but we're looking at about 18months from now.
marianneinvan, have you checked out Aberthau Mansion in Point Grey? There's also the Celebration Pavilion in Queen E Park, with Seasons in the Park nearby for a restaurant reception.
You can also check out the UBC Boathouse in Richmond. I was just there for a event a couple of months ago and it's really nice.
Minnekhada Lodge would work perfectly with that many people. It definitely has character as it's a heritage site, and it's situated in a park setting with some really beautiful gardens.
It's in Coquitlam, but it's relatively inexpensive rental wise (950.00 for 13 hours I think) and I believe you can bring in your own caterer? But don't quote me on that ![]()

Hi C! Fancy seeing you here. :P
GB, I haven't looked at Aberthau or the Celebration Pavilion, thanks for the tips.
Echo - wow that is pretty inexpensive! We'll definitely look into it, thanks!
hi guys! i am finally engaged, so i am not just a stalker! yay!
so my quesiton is, has anyone been to burnaby village musem/park for a wedding?? The chapel is online and looks cute, but i am interested in the ice cream parlour for an afternoon reception, but i cant find any pictures online?
Congrats on your recent engagement, everrocks! Looks like your wedding is coming up soon. Exciting! Sorry, I've never been to Burnaby Village.
I've been to a wedding at the chapel... it's very small. I would say you can only fit 80 people in there max. There were over 80 guests at the wedding I was at so people were packed in there... which was kind of uncomfortable b/c it was hot in the summer. Also, I found the walls a bit dark as well.
Good luck! :)
We are getting married July 11, 2009 at Mayfair Lakes Golf and Country Club...it's in Richmond (no7 and westminster)!! I've heard that the food is the best!!!! Can't wait!

Sorry, there are no users yet.
We're starting to research different venues, and it is completely overwhelming me! It seems like everywhere I look is either too big, too expensive, or just doesn't seem like "us".
So tell me, Vancouverites, where are you and your honey getting married?
