I am getting my hair and makeup done in my hotel room and I will be getting dressed in the basement of my church.
I didn't hink I would find anyone to come to me to do my hair (because my wedding is in the middle of no where), but I posted on Craigslist and I received a lot of responses. They charged a fee for driving, but it was relatiively cheap and worth it for me to not be running about the day of my wedding.
Did you post on your nearest big city Craigslist? My wedding town is about 90 miles from DC.
Yes, I posted on the nearest big city, which was about 60 miles away.
Also, don't be afriad to call salons in the area and see if they wouold be willing to come to you.
I had my stylist and makeup artist come to us. We did everything at my house (and got some great pro photos of the pets! Too cute.)....then were dressed at the venue.
I have to say, it was very relaxing as I was getting ready at my own house. I was in my element, so it helped sustain my mood and emotions. Plus, I didn't have to worry about forgetting anything...I had all day to put things together.
We decided to get ready at my house. Our church doesnt have a place to get ready either and plus we would have to lug everything there and worry about getting it all back home. I plan to have snacks for us and I know if we need anything we will be in a fully equipped house. Also our hair and makeup people will come to us, it will be a nice relaxing way to get ready, the comfort of my own home.
we're getting ready all over... hair in the salon, then make-up and BMs get dressed at my parents' house. There is only one small back room in the church where we're getting married, so that is where I'll put on my dress.
Have you actually talked with the nearby hotel to discuss your situation? A lot of hotels will work with you on check-in/check-out times if you give them a bit of notice. It might be nice to put on your dress and walk right over to the church...
on the other hand, 6 miles won't hurt your dress and you should be a-okay.
Hmm, I really haven't thought too much about this! But I'm hoping to either get ready in the hotel room with my BMs or at the church. I'd prefer the hotel cause my stuff will stay put there...whereas the church, I'll have to collect it or have somebody get it afterwards!
All of the girls are getting ready at my parents' house because we're going to a local lake to get pictures done first (as long as it's not raining, fingers crossed).
I'll probably be getting ready at my mom's house. The church is twenty minutes away, but it only has one small room for getting ready, with poor lighting and no good mirrors. Eek!
We're getting our hair & makeup done at a salon in a nearby town, and then taking over a couple of rooms in the church hall to get dressed. I don't want to have to stuff my rather large dress in a car any more than I have to, and the church has plenty of room for my small bridal party anyhow. Plus, since it is always kept locked and a family member has the key, we can leave our stuff at the church the night before and know it won't be disturbed. Less chance of forgetting things that morning!
I'm currently living at the the beautiful home where we are having our outdoor wedding and reception, so I have getting dresses, hair and makeup just right upstairs
i am going to try and do as much as i can at my grandmas house and probbly dress at the church. that way i do not have to fight with the dress and the car.
I am staying at the hotel which is next door to the hall...so this should save me a lot of time as I wont have to travel! We are getting married during the day so I wont have all that much time to get ready!
Our ceremony and reception will be held at a hotel, and I will be getting ready there beforehand.
I'm getting ready at the hotel next door to my reception, but my church is fifteen miles away but there's not any decent hotels around the church area. Hopefully my ball gown wedding dress won't deflate!
the little french bistro we're getting married in also doesn't have a getting ready space. short of hiding from guests at a pub next door (LOL) or sneaking out from the staff quarters at the back of the small venue, i'll be staying at my hotel and then making the 30 minute drive.
my groom will be there mingling with guests during cocktail hour and i will turn up just before the ceremony and walk in. i may also need to sit in the car for a while in case there's a delay
i am looking to book a vacation home so that everyone can come and get ready there. maybe you can look for something similar? try craigslist for rental homes for the weekend. especially if you're near a tourist-y type of place.

I wonder where everybody is getting ready on their wedding day? My ceremony is at my childhood church, but there is no bride room or nursey that can be used. My parents home is about six miles from the church and we are not having a limo. My dress is fairly poofy and the biggest car anyone has is my 2008 Nissan Altima.
The reception is at a state park lodge ten miles from the church so renting a room there is not an option. There is a hotel across the street from the church, but my wedding will fall between check in and check out time.
I also don't know if I will be able to find hair and makeup people to come to me or if I will need to go to a Salon. It's a small town.
Urgh, Wht to do? I'm also worried about photographer time constraints.
