Hi Terra,

I just got married in southern Vermont.  I used Irene's Cakes by Design. Our cake was meant to feel 130 people, but several guests (including my parents who paid for the cake and knew the supposed value) were shocked at the small size. Overall, the cake was great tasting but for the price...disappointing.  I encourage you to really search out the best price and the person who will REALLY listen to you and provide the best customer service.  

Additionally, I didn't feel that Irene really "listened" to my design ideas and instead shoved her portfolio in front of me and asked me which cakes "spoke" to me. She seemed a little distracted, right up until the after the wedding when she sent me a picture of my cake (unprompted) so my husband and I could have a memory of the design and it was the WRONG cake. I thought that was just a really silly mistake for a business person to make. She gets a lot of press and attention in Vermont, but I'm from New York City and she can't compare to design-wise with some of the things I've seen for comparable prices in the city.  Overall, just a lot of hype in a small market. Keep this in mind.
