@Sapphire-Dreamer:  For Sept 2011, DH and I went to Thailand – it wasn’t the BEST weather, but we had a grand ole time, and the beaches were pretty awesome too!  That being said, SF is pretty awesome too, but I’m biased because I’m from here. 🙂  Best of luck deciding on a honeymoon!

We re thinking of going to Mexico, either Cabo or Riviera Maya. I know it’s Hurricane season but we’ll get trip insurance. Ive been to Cancun in September and it rained almost everyday for about 15 min at like 3 then cleared up . The rain was actually welcomed bc it was friggen hot.

FI and I are planning on Belize.  He wanted to go to Hawaii but I said “Theoretically, we can go there anytime because we don’t need a passport.” I wanted to go someplace out of the country that I would probably never had the chance to visit again.  Some friends of mine had gone to Belize for a DW and loved it.  They showed me some awesome pictures and I decided I wanted to go there for my Honeymoon.  When I told FI this, he thought it was a 3rd world country where no one had running water and no one spoke english lol.  When I finally explained to him English is frequently spoken and it can be touristy he was on board.

FI and I are planning on staying at his parents cottage in cape cod.  Late sept, early October will be a nice & quiet off season but whale watching and some ocean activities would still be running.  Plus we’d save a ton of money and be able to focus more of our budget on our wedding.  We feel like a honeymoon probably isn’t the best time for a “once in a lifetime” type vacation because we’ll just want to relax and enjoy time together.

From western Canada and we were originally planning a tropical beach honeymoon. A week at a sandals resort would have been $5200 (all inclusive s are much more expensive coming from Canada than the US)

but my parents own an amazing property an hour outside of charlotte NC (close to Mooresville) and we did that math, for 5G we can spend 17 days down there including a NASCAR race, college football, zip lining, dining out and rental car

I feel like a honeymoon with more time together is worth it!

@Sapphire-Dreamer:  We leave about 2 weeks after our big day for a 14 day trip through Europe – we might extend it though. We’re starting in Munich, Germany (Oktoberfest, of course), taking a short flight into Paris, France, then the train into London, England and we’re stopping in Reykjavik, Iceland. We have so many amazing things planned and I can’t wait!!

@Sapphire-Dreamer:  I’m trying to get us to Iceland as well!

@MrsBudz2Bee:  FH and I are planning on Bavaria, Venice and maybe Paris. Planning a holiday on rail is proving harder than I thought. At first it was only Venice but now that my bro is moving to Bavaria, I will have to make a stop there.

Not sure what we’re doing yet, as I suspect in between our wedding and trying to buy our first house in the next 12 months all of our money will be zapped!

Our plan is definitely to go somewhere for up to a week after our wedding (be it in the UK or Europe) and hopefully go on a glam trip for our anniversary! Quite fancy Canada or an all inclusive holiday in the Caribbean.

@LilRhodyGem:  I’ve traveled internationally before (with no planning help from anyone) and found TripAdvisor.com to be the greatest resource ever. I had so many wonderful travel tips and suggestions that made our trip go so much smoother. I was afraid to do a few plane rides within one trip but a flight from Munich to Paris is about an hour while a train is about 7 hours…for me, that was a no brainer. As as far as Iceland goes, the only way we were able to justify it was by booking with IcelandAir. All flights stop in Reykjavik so we figured why not.

@MrsBudz2Bee:  Thanks! I’ve always had help traveling within Europe before but I’d like to save some money and be more independent for our honeymoon. I’ll start researching on TA. Really hadn’t thought of it for that kind of planning but it makes sense!

My FI left it up to me to choose the HM location so I was wanting to go to Cancun, Mexico but done some research and found out that September is the peak of hurricane season. I also go to Cancun every year with my family for vacation so it wouldnt be really anything new to me so now I’m thinking about reconsidering where I want us to go.

We’re going to Costa Rica but I’m not sure where yet. We’re looking for an all-inclusive location and we want to do the volcano and waterfall excursions.

I told my FI I wanted a true honey-“moon” ie a whole month! We have the funds and the vacation time, so why not?

With a month, we decided we should go somewhere/do something we couldn’t do with only 1-2 weeks. I suggested Asia (China/Thailand) but FI said that wasn’t “honeymoon-y” enough. So we’re doing a 28 day cruise to Hawaii and the South Pacific. Hello Tahiti!! I’m so excited and can’t wait. What a dream!! 🙂
