We are planning on going to Greece for two weeks. That’s about all I know so far. We love it because it is gorgeous! and because there are enough historical things to keep my FI happy!

Hello :o)  I’m getting married in April 2011 and I’m going to Costa Rica for my honeymoon :o)

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

**We are going to Light of Dawn Villa in Costa Rica :o)

Where did you find it?

**I actually found about this beautiful villa in one of the blogs on here :o)

What is your budget?

**My budget was also $4000.  For a 7 day all inclusive stay, it costed $3700.

And why do you love it?

**Oh my..what don’t I love about it.   From the moment I saw their website (http://www.mytropicalhoneymoon.com), I feel instantly in love with the place.  The Villa is settled in the middle of the rainforest in Costa Rica.  They have 20+ waterfalls (which I am dying to see & swim in).  The package is all inclusive.  Included in the package are 2 day tours of your choice; 2 day 2 night stay at a beach resort nearby; you can also go hiking on the property (its a really huge propery from what I’ve read/seen on the pictures); you will have a masseuse to come to villa/resort & give you both a massage.   The owner, Deborah, has been phenomenal in answering any/all of my questions :o)  I really cannot wait to go!!!!

We are going to Malaysia.  My fiance’s best friend is getting married the month after us in Malaysia so we just decided to stay a little longer and make it the honeymoon.  Our budget is around $5000 but we are getting some help with the tickets. I am in the process of finding resorts to stay at.  I never thought about Malaysia for a honeymoon but now I can’t imagine going anywhere else! 🙂

We had the same idea and the same budget as you.  We have, however, some paperwork complications and have to stay within US territory, i.e. anywhere you can go without a passport. Also, our wedding is in April, so anything north of FL would be to cold for the beach honeymoon.  We were looking into the US Virgin Islands, but the nice places were out of our price range.  FH is going to FL for his bachelorette party a month before the wedding, so he didn’t want to go again for the honeymoon.  This is why we completely changed our plans.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

New Orleans.

Where did you find it?

Travelocity

What is your budget?

$4,000 all together. We got the airfare and a really nice hotel for 9 days for $2,300.

And why do you love it?

We both always wanted to go!  And NOLA is a place for an adult vacation. So we know once we have kids, we won’t be easily able to do this. We won’t get the beach, but we’re very excited to stroll down the streets of the French Quarter and have drinks and yummy Cajun food!

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

Kauai and Maui, Hawaii

Where did you find it?

Continental, Hotels.com

What is your budget?

$6,500 – $7,000. We got the flights with our miles and plan on doing the same for rental cars. Spent $4k on hotels. So the rest is play money.

And why do you love it?

Honestly, I love it because the flights were “free” so we got to splurge on hotels. We wanted to do something beachy and we’ve done the Caribbean before so this feels special. I cannot wait to go on a helicopter tour in Kauai

We are as of right now (it may change since nothing is booked yet) to Seattle

Where did you find it?

Google search

What is your budget?

And why do you love it?

I am advid Orca (Killer Whale) fan and have always wanted to go Whale watching. If we go to Seattle we plan on going to the San Juan Islands to take a boat cruise for whale watching. Plus plan on going to Mt Rainer, the Space Needle and other things.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

Thailand

Where did you find it?

Singapore Airlins, Starwood Propert Group

What is your budget?

$5000 – $6,000. We paid for the flight sin full but are using points for all the hotels. As for food etc, Thailand is ridiculously cheap so we don’t need huge amounts of dosh.

And why do you love it?

I wanted it to feel like th etrip of a loifetime but not break the bank after the big expensive wedding. We have 16 days to spend and as we don’t know what things will be like over next couple of years it seemed best to just go for it!

We are taking a Contiki tour of Europe. We haven’t finalized our booking yet, however, because we are planning on going August 2012 and our dream trip includes Egypt. We are obviously waiting to see how the political unrest in those areas changes over the next year. If things worsen our trip will end in Greece instead.

If all goes well and we can include Egypt this is probably the trip we will take: http://ca.contiki.com/tours/160-ultimate-european-plus-egypt

It includes 17 countries over 47 days and makes stops at 21 of the worlds most famous historical sites. The cost is $6739.00 per person and this includes all transportation and accomadation as well as most meals and some tourist attraction entrance fees. We will be travelling with a group of people aged 18-35.

The flights from North America are not included and will be something like $1200.00 per person to fly from Toronto to London return.

The trip will cost us $7939.00 each plus we are planning on bringing about $3000 spending money so in total will we be at approx. $19,000.00 for 1 1/2 months of ultimate travelling! If it turns out our budget can’t stetch this far then we will most likely take a 30 day option and cut our costs by a few grand. It’s very pricey, but my father is paying for our flights as a wedding gift and we are taking our honeymoon 16 months after our wedding so that we can save. Our hopes are that we’ll also use some of our wedding gift money toward the trip.

We’re definitely spoiling ourselves, but we feel like it is worth it because this will be the last (and possibly only) big trip we take before having children and settling down.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

St John, 8 days

Where did you find it?

I looked for locations with Starwood hotels since I can use points.  Staying at the Westin there.

What is your budget?

$2k.  (I can get one, maybe both ticket with miles), so the spending will just be on food and activities.

And why do you love it?

It’s going to make for a cheap and beautiful honeymoon.  I’ve travelled a lot and never really been to just a relaxing place where I’m pressure to site see and do activies, so this will be good for a honeymoon.  (We were originally thinking of going to Italy, but that would NOT be relaxing)

Where are you going on your honeymoon?  We are going to the Park Royal Resort in Cozumel Mexico.!!!

Where did you find it? His parents have a time share and we were able to use the system to find the place. We had to tranfer credits because it isn’t in the Wyndam system and we wanted an all inclusive.

What is your budget? Seeing as how his parents had the time share credits that we used and payed for the tranfer and all inclusive fees… YEAH! We just have to buy the plane tickets. That is still gonna run as a little over $600 but still a heck of alot better than we were thinking!

And why do you love it? It is all inclusive, right on the beach, practically free and gorgeous! We even get to go scuba diving for free. I am SO excited about that! And I am DETERMINED to swim with turtles. I don’t care if I have to sit in line all day… I am swiming with some Sea Turtles.

@pinkshoes: Oh my god I LOVE St. John!  I’ve been there a few times with my family, and it’s GORGEOUS!  Definitely hike the Reef Bay Trail, if you’re at all active, and enjoy the snorkeling and off-the-beaten path restaurants.  Ram Head is one of our favorite spots, you hike up to one of the bluffs on the edge of the island, views are unbelievable.  I’m so jealous!

As for me…

Where are you going on your honeymoon?  Northern Italy!  Lake Como, Cinque Terre, Tuscany and Venice

Where did you find it? I’ve been to Italy before (Tuscany and Venice), and we decided to expand the trip to include places we can discover together.

What is your budget? About $5000.  We’re spending $1500 on airfare, $1500 on hotels, and the rest is for food and sightseeing.

And why do you love it? FI has never been anywhere other than the US and Canada, so he’s excited to go somewhere exotic.  We were really looking for a place where we could eat great food, drink tons of wine, and have lots of sightseeing options without having to hunt too hard.  Also, FI is super pale and not a beach person, so we were looking for something where we could be warm and outdoors, but not tropical laying on a beach.
