Where are you going for your honeymoon and how much will it cost you?
We're planning on Bali. We're expecting it to cost $7000 altogether. We're trying to spend as little money on the wedding so we can make this honeymoon dream a reality :)
Where are you ladies heading after the big day?
everywhere.
10 months
argentina, greece, nepal, hong kong, bali, australia, new zealand, hawaii.
had to make MANY sacrafices, but super excited
and terrified at the same time. 3 weeks from wedding and 4 weeks from quitting. so much at once.
i envy you 2-week-honeymoon people. so simple. though i cant complain.
We're going to the French Polynesian Islands and staying 4 nights in Moorea and 5 nights in Bora Bora...Over water bungalows here we come, haahaahaa
We're flying on miles and then we're using our Amex points for some nights in Bora Bora. We're lucky we're able to save a lot by doing that....
Cabo! We reserached everything all over the world and finally decided to go back to a place we've already been. It's so much more affordable and we know what we're getting into.
We haven't decided yet, but we're probably going to go on a quick mini-moon right after the wedding and then take our real honeymoon later in the year.
I want to do Spain, Greece or Japan.
We went to Italy, and due to frequent flyer miles we spent under $4k for 11 days there!
Phishgirl--your 10 month adventure sounds incredibly fun and extravagant!
We are going to Australia and then to Turtle Island, Fiji.
I am very excited for this trip!!!!
Everyone is going someplace amazing! We are going to Fiji for two weeks
@Ms.Caniche- I am so jealous, I would have died to go to Turtle Island but couldn't afford it in my wildest dreams.
Jamaica: about 4500. I'm pretty sure we have our own little hut, and possibly a pool. Im so excited!!!
@roxy821- Yeah I almost died when I wrote them a check a few weeks ago... But FI keeps on telling me that this is a once in a lifetime trip and to get over it...
It was the only place in Fiji where the resort was all inclusive. Especially for scuba diving which we plan on doing at least twice a day.
OMG definitely jealous of these trips! FI and I love to travel so we'll def go to some of these places that we haven't yet at some point-- ALWAYS wanted to go to Turtle Island! We thought about Greece, Turkey and Egypt but decided to save that for a trip when we'd be a little less exhausted from the wedding... we finally decided we wanted somewhere that we could lay around and have drink brought to us haha
We'll be in St. Lucia for 10 days!
@ phishgirl - I'm jealous!
@ danadelphia - I wanna go to Japan too! I've been there before with my mom. Really expensive, so I can't afford to honeymoon there. Though I would cancel Bali any time to go there instead (if I had funds) :)
And all you ladies sound like you're having a fabulous honeymoon!
We're staying at Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. We've both stayed in tropical places, but never at a resort, and we were kind of curious to see what the whole resort thing was like. I tend to be the more adventurous type on vacation, so I'm not quite sure how I'll handle staying at an all inclusive place where everything is taken care of, but I'm excited to give it a try! Our time and budget was almost next to nothing, so I'm just excited to be getting away with a week! I envy people that actually have set vacation time at their jobs. For the first 3 years of my career, I averaged about 5 days off a year (well, weekends too)...I've worked my way up to taking off about 10 days, so this will DEFINITELY be a much needed vacation.
we're also doing french polyenesia. 5 nights in moorea and 5 nights in bora bora! so excited!!
@Ms. Caniche- We are staying at Qamea and Likuliku, both have food all inclusive. It is costing us $13k for 2 weeks and I thought that was crazy but completely worth it. You are going to have to share pictures so I can dream through you!
WOW, everyone’s honeymoons sound SO NICE!!!!! We’re just taking a mini-moon to NYC because my FH has to start teaching (he’s a professor) the week after we get married.
Our plan is to take our “real” honeymoon next spring, most likely it will be to Tuscany, although we just got invited to go to Switzerland with some of my family next summer. All we would have to pay is airfare, and get to stay in a gorgeous home, which is a deal a little too temping to pass up!
@Roxy- You will be going on your honeymoon before me... I want pics!!!!!! I was a little surprised to see how expensive Fiji is but it is a once in a life time trip. I hope you have a wonderful time!
Hogwarts School of Withcraft and Wizardry opens June 18 in DisneyWorld. We're going sometime once the crowds die down a little bit. Can you tell we're both nerds? :)
Palm Springs. We're broke. :) It's costing us less than 1000 for a week. Hopefully next year we can do a bigger trip.
Not sure yet...trying to decide between South Africa, Italy, or Spain. South Africa is definitely the most expensive by a lot, buuut it also seems more like a once in a lifetime opportunity, so we'll see! I'm also getting a little stressed that we haven't booked anything yet...
10 days in tropical paradise on our own private island off the coast of Belize. I may possibly be more excited about this than our wedding at this point. uh oh.
We just got back from Naples, Florida. It was so romantic, beautiful, simple, relaxing...just the perfect place for us! We went to the beach, on the water in a site seeing boat, saw gators, tropical birds, dolphins...it was great!
We're going to Salinas Resort, an all inclusive resort, at the north of Brazil. We're only gone for a week (but staying another week in Rio afterwards), and spending about $3,000 for it, including the ocean view room and the honeymoon package (we get robes to take home! Private dinner at the beach! Yay!).
@hilsy85 omg, definately find a way to make it to South Africa- I have been there twice and i cant even begin to tell you how amazingly breathtaking it is. Cape town is like another world, the mountains and cliffs fall into the most beautiful ocean, and the wine country is fantastic.. We did a safari in Kruger- what an experience and treat- and even the Draakensberg mtns are redic!! Little Switzerland is the name of the most amazing and beautiful place.. I am going to keep my fingers crossed for you!!!!! Make it happen and you will NEVER regret it, the trip on a whole will be life altering- you realize how small our isolated worlds really are.
That being said- I think FH and I are going to go somewhere tropical and relaxing as we can most definately relish in the break from the grind of our lives as parents and part of the corporate world. We cant justify travelling as far as Bora Bora (our 1st choice) with a 2 year old at home, so I think we will have no choice but to bit the bullet and go to the Caribbean or maybe belize or Costa Rica... Still waiting to be blown away by somewhere i havent discovered yet...
Spain! We are doing 5 nights on the beach, 2 in barcelona, and 3 in wine country. We met in Spain so this was one of the first and easiest wedding decisions!
We're going to Japan for two weeks... we've always wanted to visit the country, and this will be our last two weeks off together for the next 10 years. We've gotten flights, hotels, and rail passes all for under $5000 for 14 days.
I am so excited about this... we'll be hopping around 5 different cities... can't wait!!!
A 7 day Caribbean Cruise :] Jamaica, Grand Caymans and Cozumel!
My Fiance is from Italy so we have to stay in the states after we get married for 'visa' reasons.
So we chose MAUI! 4 Seasons :) I can't wait, I'm super excited!!
French Polynesia!! We are flying out of Toronto the day after the wedding, spending a couple days in LA to help with time change (and FI doesn't like sitting still for too long hahah!) and then going to Tahiti to catch a 10 day French Polynesian Island cruise.. CANT WAIT!!! We went to Bali a few years ago and it is GORGEOUS!! You will have a great time!
oh and cost for us is about 8000-10000 depending what we spend on food in LA lol... we are using a honeymoon registry though, so we will get items form that for the honeymoon as well, which will decrease the price we have to pay!
Mayan Riviera Mexico - 7 nights all inclusive plus flight and excursions $2000.
