This time for me, it will not be in a church. Not because I am opposed to it and not because we cannot, but because I want a totally different experience!
And there was always a teeny little part of me who wanted to marry in a beautiful garden, or at a posh vineyard, or on the beach with the ocean breeze in my hair!
Where are you marrying?
Encores where are you marry?
As for us, it will be either at the beach or vineyard most likely. Third choice is a tie between the river front country club where my family belongs back home or at the clubhouse in the subdivision (it's gorgeous and gardens and tent comes along with it!) where T lives and where we will live. Many many weddings there.
Alot will hinge on the health of my grandmother. I can't marry unless they both are there. They will be celebrating in August their SEVENTIETH wedding anniversary and both have been almost like parents to my sister and I growing up. We're going to incorporate their own cake into the reception and a short vow renewal for them too! I've got some fun surprises up my sleeve!
We're marrying at a club overlooking the Garden of the Gods in Colorado (which is a lot of red rocks, not flowers...)
We're marrying in a ballroom at the hotel of our reception. It's winter in Wisconsin so I don't want to make anyone go outside!! HAH!
The HF Bar Ranch Wedding Field! This is it in winter, you have to imagine it in September...
We'll be getting married at the Atlanta History Museum in their ballroom overlooking their "gardens." I'm not sure how lush it's going to be in March.
Welcome MoSnow! What a great hive nickname! Your venue sounds cool. I'll have to google that!
Vixie, Welcome also! Yours sounds very elegant. Which hotel? (I like to try to visualize where our friends are getting married or their weddings..)
And The Mighty Sapphire! Wow. Garden of the Gods just blows me away. Its raw, natural beauty is amazing. That will be so lovely!
Wow! Another Hotlanta bee! I love Fernbank (is that the one?) Is your reception in the are with the dinos? My son absolutely adores Fernbank and I admit..in my single-ish days, I went with the girls to many a Martini N Imax party!
We're getting married in the mountains at Shinneyboo Cabin Creek resort near Donner Summit in Tahoe.
@ MightySapphire & doctorgirl: Your venues look gorgeous!
We're getting married at a golf course, which is the place that I worked through all during college (and part of grad school, and possibly, the way things are going FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE). We aren't sure where we're going to do it yet, but the course is quite wooded and backs up to some thickly-wooded acres, so I think we'll hold our ceremony somewhere under the trees.
@MightySapphire : I am soo jealous!! That is so pretty.
We're just getting married in a ballroom type setting. Nothing fancy :/
We are getting married in a catholic church. My FI and I would have preferred outdoors, but my parents felt strongly about a church wedding so we decided to make them happy : )
MightySaphire-How beautiful!!!!
I'll be getting married in my FH church he grew up at. The church is very old fashioned and I feel antique-like, which is the feeling I want to go with my wedding a romantic antique feeling.
We'll be getting married on my dad's peach farm in western Colorado. This pic was taken on a snowy spring day and we'll be getting married in Sept, but it gives you an idea.
bellenga,
the wedding is at the wyndham hotel in milwaukee. it should be really lovely once i bring in my elegant decorations.
Wow..more gorgeous pics!
@Doctorgirl, Shinneyboo Cabin Creek looks gorgeous (heck I think even the name is fun!)
@saramari, if we end up getting married in the subdivision at the clubhouse (it's a lovely french country venue), it will be up overlooking a golf course too
@Erindesmar & Miss Bliss, I love church weddings..both of yours sound lovely. Erin are they having mass?
@Caitlinc, that peach farm sounds gorgeous! You should consider having some pics made of the two of you for an e shoot! My guy and I had a few great photos made (just asked somebody to snap us) at an apple farm this fall! Orchards are a great spot for photos..unique! Oh and I loooove peaches!
@Vixie, The Wyndhams are always very very nice hotels! Bet your wedding will be fabulous.
Here's us at the apple farm in the North Georgia mountains in early October!

originally we were planning to do a ceremony in Vegas on 9-9-09 then party back in town in Arizona at my parent's house. But a few weeks ago FH and I decided to just do everything here in town at my parent's house.
Cool Amber..a backyard party can be gorgeous! That's what my friends are doing that remarried each other. They are seriously now talking of renting a gorgeous beach house and inviting about 10 families to the wedding and (vow reaffirmation later this summer) have the reception in the backyard of the beach house with butlers and a tent and catering!
Doctorgirl, you can hang here whenever you feel like it! Love ya!
We're getting married in an amazing church on the campus of our college where we met. It has significant meaning to us both so it was an obvious choice.
I wish my alma mater had a lovely chapel. T's does though. Which college?
Oh awesome! We're going to Jamaica in 3 weeks for our engagimoon! Where in Jamaica? I can't wait to try some of their drinks made with rum cream! I didn't know what that was until recently!
We're getting married in the Church I attended as a little girl. Truth be told that's what I wanted the first time but ex wanted fancy hotel. Go fig.
We were married in the Catholic Church I grew up in from my home town of Ocala, FL.

in a castle outside of st augustine :)
we can only have 50 people including the wedding party.. but it is perfect for the romantic personal wedding that i dream of :)
We're getting married in a private chapel on a ranch in my hometown in Arizona. Then, a month and a half later we're having our mass nuptiuals in his church in Italy.
Hope it's easy enough to tell which is which !
Wow - there are a lot of Colorado gals doing an encore! Our wedding will be in Estes Park in the Colorado Rockies. It's the town my FI took me to on vacation when he popped the question, and it's just a beautiful little mountain town with gorgeous scenery.
On the banks of the Mississippi River in Memphis at the National Ornamental Metal Musuem. Actually, until a week ago it was at a church but it just didn't feel right. This was our first choice and when I called a few months ago was told they were not booking over my weekend becasue of the holiday (Labor Day). BUT then last week they called and now we are getting hitched there! Hooray!!!
We're getting married in Las Vegas on a restaurant that's surrounded by a golf course. It's a pretty tropical location with lots of palm trees, grass and fountains in the middle of the desert. I'm thinking the photos will be amazing.
Here's a photo (not of us, though)... :)
Cool! I know where that museum is! Very neat spot to get hitched! Ms. Honeypants that sounds great too. An oasis in the desert!
The Crest Center and Pavilion in Asheville, NC. It's on the deck, overlooking the mountains--breathtaking beauty!
We got married on an island in a city park, it was nice but definitely not as beautiful as some of the other ladies venues. I loved the big stone bridge that you had to cross which we used as our aisle. It was free so that's why we got it.
I love Asheville! A gorgeous place. Cool town. Angee your venue was gorgeous too. Sounds very lovely and that pic is too!
By us posting some creative ideas for venues, hopefully it will give all the B2b(brides to be) some further inspiration.
Thanks for sharing..keep em' coming!
Just had to post this picture..it's a lovely seaside set-up at the resort we're going to IN TWO DAYS..for any destination bride, it's gorgeous! Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort, Jamaica.
Note: We are NOT getting married there..but it'd be the perfect place should he decide to give me the ring he's had now for a few months..
Now however, you can get married on the beach there or have the use of the gorgeous gazebo which is up and overlooks the ocean with amazing views.
Inspiration anyone?

Since we (*ahem* finally - it feels like we kept getting shot-down) picked our venue out this weekend, I figured I should show it off a little:
It's Agave Road in Katy, TX - and they have really been nice. Very happy so far. I can't get any of the pics to come thru right, so just take a look at the slideshow - you'll see why we fell in love with this place.
Ok..just found a site with packages that allow for ceremonies at my all time wanna get married at favorite place (I have had dinner at the place many times and strolled through these very gardens)...one n only ocean club on paradise island..a NO FAIL no problem desintation (Unlike our trip to Jamaica was)!
http://www.weddingsinthebahamas.com/gallery.html
This is almost what I envision but a tad bit different, and of course different colors and my twist on things...go to gallery and click on weddings and the 8th picture to the right..that's the Cloister at one and only ocean club.
