- Wedding: May 2010 - The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club
We’ve pretty much decided somewhere in the Caribbean but we’re having trouble deciding between all the great islands! May is technically before hurricane season starts so we feel okay about that, but we’re hoping for a good mix of beaches and other things to do (water sports like snorkeling, jet skis, etc, and hiking or zip line type stuff as well). Any recommendations for a particular island or resort? Where are you going?

We’re debating between St. Lucia or St. John!

We’re not big on the beach so we decided to take a tour through Switzerland, Austria, and the Czech Republic. I can’t wait!

We’re hoping to go to Greece…BUT our honeymoon is happening about 8 months after the wedding because Fiance is deploying two weeks after the wedding, and I want those weeks to be calm and normal. That being said…if we meet in Australia for his two weeks of leave…he gets an extra day (not sure why..just some advice he got from his guys). And I have NO problems with Australia (or an extra day!!). I think I’ll cross my fingers that Greece will be a trip we take sometime soon..but not the honeymoon. DesignerBee, your trip sounds great!!

Ooohhh! Those places all sound so wonderful and fun! We’re planning on going to Spain, starting in Barcelona and then maybe making a trek to Madrid and perhaps even a side trip to France. Oui! However, after seeing one of the bees post pics from her Bora Bora honeymoon…I’m feeling like maybe we should look into something a little more remote and tropical too. It sounds so relaxing. Ahhhh….

We’re actually gettin married in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It’s a Carribean island, and BEAUTIFUL! The resort we’re getting married at is called Coyaba, and it’s a locally owned resort, a perfect place for your honeymoon! 🙂

We’re going to St. Lucia. We picked St. Lucia because it has the relaxing beach aspect as well as rugged mountains for outdoor activities like hiking and mountain biking!

We are debating between Hawaii (dream place) and possibly Aruba. Any suggestions? My biggest thing about Hawaii would just be the expense. I know it’s our honeymoon, however I don’t want to go broke!

Well, I wish I could tell ya, but Fiance has booked the honeymoon and won’t tell me! I do know it’s a Sandals resort in either Antigua, Jamaica, or St. Lucia. I have a feeling it’s Antigua (he accidentally left something in our printer…dummy), but I really have no clue. He was really concerned about the weather situation because so many places he looked at had their rainy season in May. I’d just advise doing a lot of research. Also, my personal tip (that I can’t even USE bc Fiance is insistant upon keeping this a surprise) is to read Trip Advisor reviews from the month you want to go on your trip. So if your honeymoon is for May 2010, read reviews from May 2009 to get an idea of the weather on a particular island. Good luck!

At the moment, the destination is France. We’ve also considered Turkey, Italy, Northern Africa (too hot in May/June tho), Reunion/Seychelles, and just about any other place we haven’t been. We both love traveling, and while I’ve been lucky enough to travel to 6 continents (I’ll get to Antartica eventually) and to live abroad, my fiance has only been to a few cities in Europe. France has a special place in our hearts – it’s where I studied abroad and we are both eonophiles and tennis addicts. So we plan to stop in Paris to catch a few days of the French Open, spend a week relaxing and enjoying the outdoors on Corsica, then to go drink lots of wine on the Cote D’Or! But reading everyone else’s posts, I’m tempted to change my mind to copy of one you!

We are doing a 12 Mediterranean cruise. It is actually more affordable than Hawaii, and is giving us the opportunity to relax and sightsee. Neither of us have been to Europe so we are very excited about seeing it together. It includes, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Sicily and Egypt.
