I was just curious where everyone is going after the partying is all over. My FI and I have debated on getting a hotel room or just staying at our apartment (that we will hopefully have by then). So what are you all doing?
We're staying at the hotel -- it came with the package, a honeymoon suite!!
We're staying at the wedding site with our guests all weekend. We'll set out for the honeymoon on Monday.
We're probably going to be renting a HUGE house to put all the immediate family (parents, brothers & SILs, kids and my MOH & her BF for the weekend. So we'll all head back there after the wedding. 15 adults + 5 kids.
I'm actually contemplating continuing the party there afterwards (outdoor bonfire w/smores, etc to wind down the night) for a small group so we're not at the venue as long which = saving $$$. Every hour you're there adds up really fast.
ours is quasi-destination and we are staying in the honeymoon suite (came with package) - can't wait!
So should I have put the hotel room if we are going back to the house to get our suitcases, change clothes and uh you know what married people do
?
My FH wanted our first time to be in our bed (yes I did say "AWE!")
I put leaving right after the recpetion, but there will be a 6 hour break before we leave for the airport. We're not planning on doing any sleeping, though, so the time at our house will be just to shower, put on new clothes, eat breakfast, and pack up the truck!
@sc8493- AWE!
We're staying in a modest hotel close to the airport our first night before flying out the next morning to our honeymoon resort. We won't even be in the hotel long!
We are getting married on a Saturday morning (in SW Georgia where I live) and driving to the north Georgia mountains Saturday afternoon (about a 5 hour drive) and spending our wedding night at a wonderful B&B. Sunday morning, after breakfast & checkout, we will be heading up to Tennessee (about a 4 hour drive) for our honeymoon.
It's up to my FI. He's in charge of all things honeymoon related. He's going to surprise me. :)
I have no idea what we're going to do. We're getting married in my hometown in Alabama and then flying home to New York before leaving the next weekend for our honeymoon. We're both staying at my mom's house before the wedding, but she's already told us that's not an option for the wedding night -- Hah! There aren't really any decent hotels around, so I have to figure something out.
hhmmm well my FI dont want to tell me anything
lol! he says its going to be a surprise so ill just have to wait... im sure whatever it is or whereever it is it will be romantic, the morning after we will be heading to the airport in our way to Italy
yey!
We splurged on our hotel room ($400+/night) and of course there happened to be a two-night min; so I get the delicous suite all to myself the night before!! There'll be a post about it soon!
We are staying in a totally romantic Bed and Breakfast private suite, then meeting our parents for brunch before we fly off for our honeymoon in New York
We're going back to our place. We live two blocks away from the reception hall... going to a hotel will be more of a hassle.
We live only about 15 minutes from our wedding locations, so we went home. It actually ended up being really nice, just being able to relax and officially start off our married life in our own home. We didn't leave for the honeymoon until the Wednesday after either.
We are staying at my (our) apartment. Driving to the honeymoon the next morning.
I live downtown and our "after party" is a few blocks away. Will be nice to crash without having to worry about elevators and messing up a hotel room.
We are having our ceremony and reception at a hotel. The hotel is giving us a suite as well. Which I'm glad because I don't think I want to jump in a car with my big dress after a full day's worth of events...lol
We are staying at a hotel near the Toronto airport so it will be convenient to leave for our honeymoon (in Hawaii!) the next day. My FH and I were also debating whether or not we should stay at a hotel or at our home for our wedding night but decided on staying at a nice hotel to celebrate this once in a lifetime night (you only have one wedding night, right?). To make it special and romantic we are hiring a company that specializes in decorating the wedding night. I was referred to them by a friend who used their service and loved what they had done to her honeymoon suite. The company is called "A Night of Romance" and their website is: www.anightofromance.ca. I don't think it matters whether you stay in a hotel or at your home for your wedding night as long as it is special and memorable as it is the first night together as husband and wife!
Our cruise does not leave until the following Monday so we are staying at our appartment and then lunch on Sunday with family and then leaving on monday!! yay!
We stayed at our house, which is not a far drive from the airport (flight left at 10am the next day for the honeymoon). A hotel near the reception would have been about 20 minutes farther.
This actually worked out really well, since we were still packing last minute items for the honeymoon before we left! We slacked a little in that department...
I like the idea of us having our first night as husband and wife be in our own bed, but we may be letting my parents and sisters who will be flying in from Houston stay at our place to save them hotel expenses...if that's the case we'll definitely be staying in a hotel, even if it's just to pass out after our evening wedding festivities!
We decided to stay at our apartment instead of spending money on a hotel room. Plus we're doing a brunch the next morning at our apartment's clubhouse, so we wanted to be nearby to help set up.
Since our parents and some bridesmaids will be crashing at OUR house, we will be staying in a hotel down the street. It was like $60 a night, so it's not a suite or anything fancy, but I figure we're showing up at midnight anyways and leaving at 9, and we'd rather spend our money on something more romantic like dinner or our actual honeymoon =]
Here's an alternative: we're getting married at noon on Sunday, taking the red-eye (coach) to our honeymoon. Did I mention there are no miles seats available for reclining 1st class..and that paying for 1st class is out of the que$$tion?
But we have each other. I don't plan on wearing a veil or carrying a bouquet, but would scrounge up something inexpensive just to show up at the airline ticket counter and cross my fingers for generosity on the airline's part. I just typed that and realized I must be delirious, but with joy it seems.
We wanted to go home right after and leave for the honeymoon from our place the next morning, but our wedding is on one side of LA and our apartment is on the other--over an hour of driving, some of which is on a poorly lit, windy mountain road, at around midnight. No thanks! We'll be staying at the closest hotel to our venue on the other side of the hill, and leaving from the hotel for our honeymoon the next morning. I'm going to have to coordinate dress pick-up with my BMs!
We're staying in a hotel room, but it's also because we'll be getting married in a different town. We come home the next day and the day after that we'll leave for our honeymoon.
@ carochinha - Ugh, we did the same thing. Got married on a Sunday, got back to our house after the wedding at 10 pm, and left for the airport at 1:30 am. It was kinda miserable so it was a really good thing we were still in good moods from the wedding. :) Unfortunately, though, the ticket counter lady (and all the flight attendants) said that with the economy the way it is, airlines are packing people on the planes, not really allowing extra seats. So there was no chance to be moved up to first class... Our flight attendant did bring us glasses of champagne, though!
Hopefully, you guys are luckier than we were. ![]()
We are getting married in FI hometown which is 45 minutes away from where we live, so we are going to stay in a hotel for our wedding nite, mind you, it won't be anything fancy, seeing as how the town has maybe a few thousand people living there, plus the one decent hotel they have is where my family and friends will be staying, so we are opting for either the 2nd best hotel in town or driving about 15 minutes to stay in another one!! Would love to just drive home, but we would be back that next morning anyway..... Besides that Monday we leave for Hawaii, so I can't complain!!
we're staying in the hotel I asked them to throw it in for FREE
and asked about honeymoon extras I was ahead of them it'll come with petals champagne, aw
at the waldorf woohoo
We'll be at the hotel in LV, where we're getting married. I would love to move in to a full suite for the night though.
Since the hotels in my small hometown absolutely SUCK, we're staying at a great little bed and breakfast, except we're making our own breakfast together the next day...naked. lol.
After the wedding we're staying at a hotel. Sunday night we stay at home, then off the the honeymoon on Monday!
Our venue rental includes a room at the hotel at our venue site, so we'll be staying there.
We'll be getting married in January, so we're waiting until the summer to go on our honeymoon - which means more time to save up for it!
It looks like we're getting two suites the night before so that in the morning (Wedding is at 11am) the guys can get ready in one, girls in another. All the guys live in town, all the girls are out of towners so this also gives me a night with my girls before the big day. We head out for our honeymoon the next afternoon.
We're staying in the top floor suite at the hotel everyone is staying at for the wedding. Angelina Jolie stayed there when she was filming a movie in the area ;o)
We're going to have a brunch the next day and then head back to the city. It's prohibitively expensive to fly out of Albany, so it actually makes more sense to go back to NYC and fly out on Monday.
We are staying at a B&B & asked for privacy ;) The suite we have is AWESOME & has a beautiful old fireplace next to the bed that they will have already lit when we arrive. The suite also has this big massage chair that my future hubs & I will take turns laying in :)
We will probably spend the first night together in our house.
