I brought my wedding dress home today – yay! But it is HUGE and doesn’t really fit in any of my closets. I also don’t want my fiance to see it. Right now it is hanging from the shower rod in our guest bathroom (but outside of the shower, of course), but I just don’t feel safe leaving it there. Any suggestions?

I have my wedding dress in a spare closet we have that is large enough to fit it. My FI hasn’t even tried to look because he wants to be surprised. Maybe could you store it at your parent’s house or in-law’s?

Mine’s laying across 3 hangars in one of our closets. But we have 3 huge storage closets in our little apartment, so it’s not taking up valuable space. :
Is there any way you can take it to your moms?

Yeah, mine is in the closet in our second bedroom/office. It’s hiding in a black garment bag and he knows not to look.

Mine stayed at my parents until the wedding.

I bought a white sheet, washed and dried it, then wrapped it around my dress and hung it in the closet. My FH couldn’t see the dress and the sheet helped protect it later on in transit to the wedding 🙂

I have mine shoved in the far end of our closet in its garmet bag, FI is very adamant about not seeing it but it is taking up so much room I wish I could take it to my moms.

When mine comes in I’ll be keeping it at my parents house (since I live with FI and we don’t have nearly enough room in the closets in our apartment).

Unfortunately my parents and in-laws all live really far away. i just cleared out our coat closet and hung it there – the only problem is the train is pretty long so I had to tuck it under. I’m sure it’ll be fine, I just don’t want it to get too wrinkled. I have to travel (on a plane) with it to the wedding anyway, so I suppose any wrinkling that is going to happen will happen then!
If its tucked in a closet, does it need to be in a garment bag? The ladies at the store suggested keeping it out of the bag because it has to be bunched up a little bit to fit inside. The advantage of the garment bag is that it ensures FI won’t see it, but he promised not to open that closet…

I wouldn’t put it in a garment bag if you’re hanging it in the closet. It’ll let most of the deep wrinkles drop out pre-travel. I’d just stick up a note with blu-tack on the door of the closet to remind your FH not to open it.
My dress is only tea length so I’ve just stored it in the closet in the spare room. FH never goes in there so it’s safe.

My wonderful grandmother is storing it in her closet – to the point that she moved her own clothes! She did that on her own, I was going to store it in one of the spare bedroom closets. She said she loves peeking at it every day.

Mine is on my bed at my parents house in it’s little bag. It pretty much hasn’t moved since we brought it home. I wouldn’t want to keep it in the bathroom either!

I’m not picking mine up until the 19th but it’s going to have to go to my parents’ house because my FI is desperate to see it and he’s sneaky.

Mine is at my mom’s house in a closet in the guest room.

I had mine in the back of my closet for the months before I had the alterations. After the alterations were done, I had it hung up on my inlaw’s gym equipment so it wouldn’t get wrinkled.
