Salvation army? I know they do the angel tree for needy kids but the deadline for that has already passed. However, they may have other families in need.

@Klein2bReidy:  You could contact someone at a local school (the nurse would be a good person to contact) or a church secretary.  Lots of schools and churches accept donations for students/families that are in need.

A women’s shelter or a kids hospital come to mind.

@Klein2bReidy:  if you go to your local social services office they have an angel tree or you could probably speak with a case worker and they could lead you towards a family in need. You may have to hurry though! At ours, presents are due by the 15th. Good luck.

You might also want to think about contacting a nursing home.  There are lots of forgotten elders out there that don’t even have guests for the holiday.

Go to your post office and ask for an “Operation Santa” letter. You can buy the presents the kids write to santa for. In my experience, it’s been things like hats, gloves, socks, scarves, etc…then I usually throw in some toys for the kiddies. Their siblings and ages are in there too. Merry Christmas!

@OctBride-2012  Good call with the nursing home suggestion. There are a bunch run by Catholic Charities and other nonprofits that definitely need help.

I agree with the nursing home suggestion, even if you go and visit some elderly people who don’t have visitors over the holidays
