I’m getting married late next year and have fallen in love with Alfred Angelo style 2300. However, I live in Australia and the mark-up on those dresses here is ridiculous (paying 3-5x as much as in America). I’ve looked into getting it shipped from the States, but they will only ship to American addresses and have facilities in place to prevent me using a re-shipping service.
So unfortunately, I’m now looking for a replica site – or a similar style dress online as I’ve decided that retail dresses here are way overpriced. I’ve seen a few on here that are recommended, but can’t find the right dress – I want an A-line, natural waist, small/thin straps, with a flared but not layered or ‘poofy’ skirt, and a small train.

Such a pretty dress!
Have you tried it on and know for sure that it is your dress?
Could you not order directly from a store that sells the dress and have them ship the dress to you for alterations to be done in Australia? Or , do the stores have to agree to not ship the dresses abroad?
Are you open to a preloved dress?
There are bees who have that dress that may be willing to sell after their wedding.
Do a search here on the boards then PM them.

Try searching at Recycled Bride – I just saw an Alfred Angelo 2300 up on the classifieds. Unfortunately, I couldn’t copy the link here (stupid computer).
Do you have any close family or friends in the US who can buy it for you and ship it?

Like PP mentioned, try pre-owned sites (where you can both pre-owned and new-with-tags or sample gowns):
I’ve done hours and hours of research and found that the two best replica dress sites are:
Both companies make excellent gowns and have great customer service. Jasmine’s will be more expensive and their quality seems to be a little bit better/more accurate. Jasmine’s also has a Facebook and a blog website where they show ACTUAL gowns that they’ve made – not just pictures of gowns taken from the designer’s website. Reviews of both sites are all over the boards here, just search their names.

Have you looked into bestbridalprices.com ? They are not a replica site, all the dresses are authentic, they are a bridal salon with a physical location in Illinois. They have your dress, and it says they ship internationally, there is just a different shipping charge. There are international phone numbers too! Here is a link to your dress!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I’ve explored the genuine route pretty thoroughly – there are serious restrictions on Alfred Angelo, even from conglomerate sites (http://www.bestbridalprices.com/alfredangelo.html is what I get from bestbridalprices.com) and they match the shipping address to the credit card billing address to make sure you can’t use a re-shipper.
I’ll definitely be looking at the pre-owned sites. Is it difficult to get a dress re-altered (I’m quite tall, so if the dress has been shortened at all it is unlikely to be long enough for me)?
Otherwise, has anyone heard anything about ninedresses.com? They have a replica of the right dress.

@seree: I’m in regional NSW and I got my Alfred Angelo 2300 for less than $50 more than US prices advertised online. Are you sure you can’t just shop around for a cheaper price?

Hey there, not sure if this is any use to you but I live in the UK and found a bridal store in the USA that would ship to me as the dress I fell in love with (whilst on holiday in the UAE) was not distributed in UK….. I called Alfred Angelo Direct to ask for advice and they advised me of the best route which was to contact Bridal Mart in North Carolina I think……. Their number is (336) 227-5500 I believe….. I ordered the AA 801 and only paid the quivalent of £500 GBP pluss £100 for shipping to Scotland UK……. one thing I would say is though be aware of your own countries shipping and custom charges as I didn’t think of this and had to pay a further £200 to the customs department in the UK to actually get it into the country… Was so worth it though as it was still a fraction of the original price tag……. hope that helped…..
P.S The Bridal Mart Website also does online orders but I would advise calling…..

@seree: There are a number of Aussie brides-to-be on Weddingbee who have bought replica dresses from Jasmine Bridal Shop. I bought my daughter’s from them earlier this year. I highly recommend you do a search and read some of the comments and see some of the actual dresses they have made. I fully understand your frustration about the cost of wedding dresses in Australia. It’s a fixed price market.

you can also have a look at 7foxmall for custom made dresses. just attend a wedding in regional NSW where the bride bought wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses from there. she is happy about the material and workmanship. would not have guess that she bought the dress online.
