So my friend is getting married in 3 months. Two days ago she decided to change the entire color scheme to something completely different (after everything had been ordered and paid for, smart I know :P). Now instead of lavender bridesmaids dresses she wants black. I am a bridesmaid in this wedding and need to know where I can find a cheap cheap cheap dress since I have already paid for one and am expected to pay for this one too (since its her day and she can make as many changes as she wants -- Her words). We can't dye the ones we have because now she wants a completely different style. Any help on this would be wonderful since we are all broke (me because I have my own damn wedding to pay for) and now have to buy a second dress (oh and we can't take our other ones back either, isn't it fun). So PLEASE help on this if you know where to find cheap black dresses that look like bridesmaids dresses.

What size and style or doesn't it matter? There's a seller on Ebay who has NWT dresses with cheap shipping. I'll send the link if interested.

Check Target too. They have wedding attire now.

@smyley: Please do. We need two size 4's a size 8 and a size 12. She likes around knee length sleeveless or preferably strapless.

@souliganprincess: I checked their and right now they have nothing on sale that she likes. And the cheapest I found was around 70 or so....I know thats good for a BM dress but I can't :(

I'd just go to a department store like Macy's and find one.

wow. really? She made you pay for the first one...and THEN the next one? I would tell her if she wants me to wear another dress, she can pay it herself, or I'm showing up to her wedding in the first dress!

Seems to me you could just hit the mall and find black dresses in most every store.

@Corilee13: I would just try off the rack somewhere. My friend just got a BM dress at zellers and my girls got their dresses from Bryans (not Bryans Bride) for 99.00. It will be hard though as she is dictating a specfic style though....good luck!

Here's how one of the styles looked in a friend's neice's wedding. They added the ribbon for some color.

@Baileyh: Off the rack can still be too much. While 99.00 is a great price on a dress when you combine it with the 160.00 I already spent it gets a bit too much.

@2ndtime: Her words "Those aren't formal enough." "Those don't look like bridesmaids dresses" *sigh* I tried that one yesterday :P thank you though.

@joy2011: Yep we have to pay for it all. This is why the whole "Its your wedding you can do it how you want" thing should have a limit. I would never do this but sigh thus is life.

    @smyley: Thank you so much.

Yuck, I would be so mad. If you already bought a dress and she changed her mind, she should have to pay for it, especially since you can't return it.

I'd do as others suggested and go to department or clothing stores. So many stores have lots of cute dresses out right now.

    Good luck in your search!

@Corilee13: Depends where you go - you can get a black off the rack dress at most places for like $30 (it would be different if it was a unique color, but its black)

I would go to discount stores like Ross or TJ Max and browse.

Wow, I'd be pissed as hell. You're taking this incredibly well. I would try modcloth, all the department store sales racks and Stein Mart if you have one in your area. Don't forget that if you find something on a sales rack and there aren't enough sizes, stores can call around and find it at a different location.

    Here is another one.

BTW, you may have to convince your friend that her original plan was better than the current plan.

@2ndtime: Yeah I'm still trying to do that. There may be black dresses available but not many since they aren't to focus for stores in spring/summer time. But she just keeps saying "Its my wedding I can make as many changes as I want." I give every bee on here permission to slap me if I act like this.

@jo.lee: Thank you. I am trying to be calm on this thread. The "My friend is a dumbass and changed everything at the last minute" thread should be a different post.

I think its very unreasonable of her to expect you to pay for the 2nd dress.  you was never going to wear the first dress ever again,  yet now she expects that you will have 2 dresses hanging in your closet, never to be worn again, and your own expense.

i would tell her she has to pay,  or i aint gonna be a bridesmaid.

sounds like when she said its HER decision.......she's somewhat of a bridezilla

Do they all have to match? If not, I would suggest just going to Goodwill or a consignment shop.  They always have a ton of stuff like plain black dresses.

I found some @ www.keepmeinstitches.biz  If in stock you can get them in just a few weeks.

Beware of the sizes-they run VERY small!!! Get measured professionally before you order.

@Corilee13: Just tell her you can't afford something past a certain amount. If she's going to be this unreasonable, then you may want to reconsider being in this wedding. I can't believe someone would actually do something like this!
