I’m just a waiting bee but I love to plan ahead! I’d really like an outdoor wedding reception in a tent/marquee/tipi/yurt. Does anyone know of a good piece of land that you can rent to pitch marquees (or that is free, but I consider that unlikely)? Ideally, in the East Midlands/East of England (I’m originally from Peterborough) OR Yorkshire area (we’re moving to Leeds)? Has anyone had a wedding reception likes this? Any ideas?
Lots of the places I’ve looked at where you can pitch a marquee are, say, hotels. In that case, you usually end up having to pay to book part of the hotel too so it works out a bit expensive. I’d really like to just book the land. And IDEALLY some land near water because I think that’s be really pretty. A great example of this is here: http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-lyvedennewbield/w-lyvedennewbield-wedding_receptions.htm
That’s still a bit expensive though because it’s National Trust land. I’ve found a field to rent from a local farm for £350 – not bad but no pretty water and it IS a farm so not sure if there could be issues with mess and bad smells.
