So I had someone at the MAC counter do my makeup over the weekend. I thought it might be a good trial before my trial with the MA.
I was mortified by what I saw! I came out of there looking 15 years older than what I normally do! Granted, I am 37, but when I came in everyone was oohing and ahhing over what great skin I have, and they couldn’t believe my age. When I left, I wanted to cry. I do have some fine lines around my eyes, and I’ve noticed this past year some puffiness too. But it’s not terribly bad. Certainly not anywhere near as bad as it looked when she got done with me.
Here is what she used: (all MAC products)
Tinted Moisturizer (she said I didn’t need foundation)
and then all of the pretty stuff (eyeliner, shadow, blush, lips, eyebrows, etc)
I felt like whatever she did accentuated every tiny line around my eyes, every bit of puff, and it looked cakey. I hated it. When I came home Fiance said “Who the hell did your makeup?” and my son said “Umm…what exactly is going on here?”
Not exactly ringing endorsements for how beautiful I should have felt. In pics it didn’t look as caked on, but I don’t want my groom to be looking at a clown at the alter, just for pictures sake. And when I toned it down, it looked like I wasn’t wearing much at all.
Now I’m afraid to have the MA do my makeup. I’m scared it’s going to look like this did.
Does anyone have any tips, or recommendations that might help?
I’ve always been a drugstore makeup person, but wanted to splurge on some nicer stuff for the wedding, and in general anyways. I’m just clueless.
The only thing I loved were the MAC shadows. When I applied them myself at home on a different day, I loved the way they looked.
My skin is pretty normal, but tends to get a little shiny in the T zone. I don’t have much to cover, except this puffy wrinkly eye situation, and maybe a little something to even out my skin tone.
I want to look made up, but I don’t want to look caked on. UGH!
