Where did everyone shop for mother of the bride dresses

I don’t think you need to match your mom to your theme. Why not just check out the evening wear section of your local Nordstrom or similar department store?

We just went to some department stores (Dillards, Nordstroms, Macys, etc).  I avoided the mothers section at bridal stores because I think most of that stuff was hideous.  I don’t think she has to go with your theme though, unless she wants to.

Our colors are black and red, no real theme. My mom’s dress, which she found at Nordstrom, is navy. Totally doesn’t “go” but she looks great in it and that’s all I hoped for.

@kellynn323:  I totally get it, I was the same way until our wedding stylist told me the theme of your wedding is wedding. Here’s how you look at it: If you’re doing black tie, everyone should be in black tie, if casual then everyone is casual. Matching bridesmaids, family members, and groomsmen to your decor colors is generally not a good idea visually.

Haha, I tried to get my mom to order that exact dress but she didn’t like how it “changed colors on the bottom.” Okay mom, lol.

I’d suggest Macys or Nordstrom, as the specific “mother of the bride” places all seem to have the typical long dress + little jacket which I think can get a bit old…
