    Hello Bees!

I know I'm taking the fun out of it, but I'm trying to figure out when the FH will propose...I have a strong feeling he has already bought the ring.  I am convinced that men propose only on trips or weekend getaways as opposed to places closer to home...every one of my married girlfriends got engaged on a trip or getaway (except one, her husband proposed on her birthday).

I'm curious to see if my suspicion is true ... because we don't have any trips planned in the near future!!! Grrr.

I think how the proposal occurs is really dependent on your BF and your relationship.  My FI asked me at home after we had a nice dinner one night.  I was sitting on the couch and trying to get him to put his plate away from dinner!  Haha...but when it happened it was a surprise and it was just the two of us.  We are a pretty laid-back, casual couple, so I wouldn't have wanted it to happen any other way :)

My FI proposed on a Wednesday after dinner while we were sitting on the couch watching the Travel Channel.  Completely out of the blue and I had no idea.

Home! Though I'm a tad jealous of you ladies who got deluxe proposals at exotic locations, I wouldn't take my guy's proposal for anything. :)

I told him he couldn't propose until I had graduated school. He proposed about 15 minutes after we got to my apt after post graduation dinner with my family. He said he planned on doing it the next day but he couldn't wait. He mimicked the scene from Love Actually with the cards--I guess we talked about it on our first date.

My FI proposed on a trip home to see my parents in front of our town waterfalls. He did it then because he wanted to ask my parents permission in person first (we live about 9 hours from my parents).

In an IHOP parking lot... and it was perfect. There was so much feeling and emotion and he just couldn't wait any longer. I cried, he teared up and it was the sweetest thing ever!

Mine took me away for my birthday one weekend and proposed then. Everyone else suspected and I did too (due to a few clues) but mostly tried not to think about it since he'd told me it wouldn't happen until 2009 (this was Nov 08). I know lots of people who have been proposed to/gotten engaged at home though :)

Wow! I am enjoying reading these proposal stories and am actually shocked at how many of you got engaged at "home"!! It does seem romantic just to do it in "the moment"...  So ... it could happen any day now then?!? :) Exciting!!!!

    Keep 'em coming :)

My FI proposed walking home from dinner on our anniversary. I agree with the many people who have said it depends on his personality and your relationship!

Also, your living situation would probably contribute, as if you are not living together it could be a bit wierd to propose "at home" as you wouldnt have time to yourselves! Unless, you are living alone separately i guess.. ok ignore me...

Mine officially proposed in our bedroom while I was folding and putting away laundry.  Afterwards we went to pick up chinese takeout and then we came home and watched Sanford and Son.  It was awesome and exactly us.  To be honest, I don't think any of my married friends got engaged during a vacation or a trip.  Usually it always on a holiday.

We went out to dinner on New Year's Eve.  We had planned a quiet New Year's Eve at home, just the two of us.  He proposed on the couch about 9:00.  He had planned to do it at midnight -- but said he just couldn't wait!

My FI proposed at home, in our apartment.  It was so sweet and romantic.  He had asked me a few weeks before what my favorite number was, I told him 3.  His favorite number is 25.  He proposed on 3/25, which is actually the day before my birthday and 5 days before his.  He addressed my birthday card, which he insisted on giving me one day early, To My Beautiful, New Fiance.  We had SO MUCH excitement for like a week!

He proposed at "home" literally. We were just sitting on the couch watching TV and I flipped channels to a wedding show and he said "so... you want to get married?"

FI proposed in Costa Rica up at a waterfall in the rainforest..we had planned the trip about 7 months prior. once the trip got closer, he said he KNEW he had to propose there..he did a fabulous job! plus, it was probably the only time he was able to surprise me because i didn't think the ring was going to be in until right when we returned from our trip :)

My FI took me on a "surprise" trip to St.Thomas/St. John just before Christmas. He knew that one of my favorite spots ever is a beach on St. John called Trunk Bay. He took me there at sunset :)

Try not to think to much about where yours will be, try to let it be a surprise. I wish I hadn't tried to be so nosey haha but I can't help it I suppose.

My FI proposed in the chapel of the church where we met, where he later asked me out... and where we are getting married.

Really, it depends on your lifestyle, your couple activities, and timing then going somewhere exotic.

My FH propesed to me on the morning of my 20th b-day. I was at his dads house, raking up a huge pile of leaves (century old maple trees are my nemesis!) totally involved in my "work" I remember he said "M, can I ask you something?" I whipped around, totally pissssed that he was "bothering" me (assuming it was a dumb question like "do you know where my socks are?" you have no idea how many times I hear that a day), like a harpy I screeech "Whaaaaaaat?!" And there he is, on his knee, grinning like a fool (he likes to get a rise out of me), holding a ring box. I just started laughing, it was great.

Not long after sharing a laugh, we shared some tears too. He took me out for supper later that day for b-day/engagement fun.

DH proposed in a nearby area (about 45 mins away) that we were going to for a picnic before I was heading home for 8 weeks.  I thought I saw it coming SO many times before that I wasn't getting my  hopes up...but I was suspicious!

DH had the perfect opportunity to propose while we were on vacation in beautiful locations TWICE in a row and didn't. I was furious until he blew me away by proposing on the ice rink at Rockefeller Center on NYE! (we live in NYC).

Mine surprised me on a weekend getaway that I had NO IDEA he planned. Typically he is not sneaky and he said not to expect too much from the trip (i.e. a proposal) and that it was just a getaway to destress. Then he woke me up early to see the sunrise at the place the sun first hits the east coast (Bar Harbor, ME in Acadia park) and proposed on one knee there. Such a romantic man - and I had no idea!

Mine took me on a spontaneous long weekend getaway to Napa over Valentines Day weekend this year. I kept thinking all weekend he was going to propose (we had picked the ring together months before in October so I knew he had it). There were so many perfect moments at the wineries and especially when we went to the Castello di Amore (Castle of Love!) and on Valentine's Day itself (Vday was on a Sunday this year). However, he didn't propose until the last day at Shasta Lake on the drive home on Monday. We had talked about getting a houseboat over the summer so he pretended we were going to check them out. Little did I know he brought me down to the lake to get down on one knee. Shasta Lake has a lot of meaning for both of us and I am so glad he waited because it definitely had the surprise factor!

Wow! So many ladies were proposed to on their b-day's! Did any of you expect it or had a feeling it would happen then? You would think that your man would choose a day that you wouldn't expect anything at all.

I'm just curious because I'm turning 30 on August 7th, and our 3 year anniversary is on August 18th (which he will not be around to celebrate because he claims that he "HAS TO" attend a golf tournament put on by his employers. Grrr).

Now you've all got me thinkin'! *tries not to get hopes up*
