We considered getting it online.  But the prongs on my band sticks out, so I definitely wanted to try the rings on.  And then my FI just found on that he liked at the same store.  So we got it at Robbins Brothers!

It really depends on what you’re looking for.  In person, you get to feel the weight of the ring and so forth.  Unless you know exactly what you want, it’s hard to know from the descriptions and lovely pictures online.  You can always shopin store and buy online.

For mine,

We’re driving to Tiffanys in Dallas and making a weekend out of it!

For FI, he just wants a plain band..

We looked online jewelers as well (blue nile, etc..), but wanted to try things on ‘in-person’. We were able to to find a local wholesale jewelry store. Their prices ended up being less than what we would have paid online. I can give you the info but they are in Canada. If you do a quick search, you can definitely find someone local should you go this route.

Blue nile. My e-ring was from there as well. The prices were so much lower than any other local jewlery stores. I tried on a similar ring in a jewlery store and then purchased it online 🙂

I would buy your ring soon though – the price of platinum has gone up significantly (my ring is 80$ more than it was 1 month ago), I think gold may have gone up as well.

My E-ring and wedding band are custom made by a jeweler friend; but for men’s bands we are very happy with FI’s which we got at Kay’s Jewelers.  We shopped a ton!, but he kept coming back to a Tungsten metal band that Kay’s had.

Tiffanys in NYC, it went with my e-ring and my fiance happened to find a band he liked there too.

I would definiately recommend trying on the ring in person before buying. Or at least the same type of ring with your e-ring before ordering online. You never know how it will look with your e-ring, by itself, if it sits high, rubs together, etc.
