my inspiration for my colours was this paper and set the tone for our wedding http://www.styleguide.com.au/issue3/modernspice.php
50/50 split with my guy - he wanted black and silver (but he called it chrome), I wanted whites and teal so... We're doing black, silver and white with the tiniest bit of teal for pop.
honestly the time of year inspired me the most because it is near nye and i wanted a glam wedding so the colors, although dark will still be fairly wintery... and the glam will be inflused with the chandeliers that we are using.
Our flowers! I really wanted frangipanis in my bouquet so we decided to go with a yellow and white theme for the whole wedding. Since then we've had a bit of a creamy ivory replace the white and we've included a bit of a pink champagne for accents in our clothing and to give the whole thing a bit of a soft, vintage flair.
We are both HUGE baseball fans! it started with the save the dates, and has evolved into a summery, vintage baseball theme!
I kept looking @ Style Me Pretty & Southern Weddings & pieced things together :) I love my pink & yellow southern plantation themed wedding!!
Our venue is a historic mansion on the shore of the Delaware river. It has a ton of character and sets the vibe of the whole event. I didn't commit to any one style before booking it, because I think unless you have a blank slate type of venue, that's going to be the #1 deciding factor in what kind of theme you have.
Our colors are my favorite and his favorite.
From this photo....
I love the uber-romantic, yet unrefined look.
From the life we've shared together so far (oh boy, can you say cheeesssy?!). We're both passionate dog lovers, volunteer regularly with the Humane Society, were high school sweethearts, etc. etc. :-)
I'm a costume designer and old movie buff, so we were inspired mostly by that. We also booked a fabulous venue, a hotel built in 1926 that Cary Grant used to stay at regularly and still has the original ballroom.
That and my love of polka dots and retro costumes!
Honestly, my inspiration came from a pair of shoes. I've posted this pic a million times, but here it is again:
I originally wasn't going to incorporate any color (we're having a city hall wedding and keeping things simple) but as soon as I bought these, I realized I could base my wedding around them :) Now our colors are fuchsia and black, and we're keeping everything sleek, modern, and sexy.
Our theme is "lovebirds" and I got it from when the FFIL would tease us when we would be over and would call us the "lovebirds," and then on weddingchicks.com I saw the cutest lovebird sign, so I ordered it with our names and date to have in our entrance and that's how the theme all came about.
@nexus- Holy crap. What are those shoes and where can I find them?!
For me it was partly these pictures, partly my love of EVERYTHING vintage, the fact that I want to wear a 50's style tea length dress, our venue (a massive rose garden) and the fact that I refused to pick one or two colours cos I didn't want to be tied down! So now our unofficial theme is "Vintage garden tea party" LOL with lots of colour!
I found my dream dress and everything just fell into place. I though it was perfect for a Masquerade ball and it match the design and colors of my church's stain glass windows, so we expanded our color palette.
I kept looking on swsmag.net & especially stylemepretty.com! You get AMAZING ideas from them!!
I was inspired by a variety of things; vintage prints, golden books and sunshine!
Ours is a combination of our love of travel and my love of classic Hollywood glamor. Think Ingrid Bergman/Katherine Hepburn all dressed up in a rustic jungle/rain forest location.
Our colors were inspired by the Fall Season. Apple red and tangerine (like the leaves)

Question says it all. I feel like we got ours from our culture and our dream weddings. It's hard matching two people's dreams together you'd think, but it really isn't when you think so much a like as we do (it's scary!).
