When I read a lot of the posts on here, there are a few main themes that I have noticed. First, I noticed that a lot of people have rings that have come from chain stores, like Jared. I have also noticed that a lot of people have rings that have been custom made by their fiances. So, I am curious...where did your ring come from?
mine was custom made in nyc and im in philadelphia. but we shopped at local jewelers. final decision was his
My engagement ring came from Blue Nile and my wedding band was custom made (but for someone else actually)
Mine is a combination--The center stone was originally a solitaire given to me by my mom (it was given to her the day I was born). Fi and I went to a local jewelry store/goldsmith and picked out a setting. It had to be altered to fit my stone and then sized.
Mine is from Brilliant Earth. I'm not sure which category that would fit into...probably independentlyl owned but not local, honestly I'm not sure!
I had it custom made on Etsy. I picked the stone and chose the jeweler. I am super picky and none of the mall stores or jewelers had what I was looking for.
Both my e-ring and my wedding band came from an local independent jewelery store.
E-ring setting and wedding band are both from Jared, the center stone is from Kay though
Mine came from a local independent store....also happens to be my mom's cousin's store. YAY for big family discounts!!!
@BridalNerd: My engagement ring was custom made by a jeweler on Chicago's Jeweler's Row. We bought our bands at a local, independent jewelry store where I have a friend who works there. We went during a wedding band trunk show, so we got a great deal on our rings.
Mine came from Peoples, I think it's the Canadian version of Zales.
My diamond and setting both came from James Allen online jeweler (out of NYC)
Engagement ring is from Tiffany & Co. Wedding band hasn't been bought yet but will either be from there or from a store nearby.
All of our rings are from Jared. He searched around at many stores before deciding and they had the best stones for the price, I guess.
Local jewerly store for engagement setting and wedding band. My stone is a family stone.
i voted "he had it custom made"...he is having it custom made right now (in the design stages), but it's also an independently-owned jewelry store whose storefront is in grand island, NY. they have a rather confusing website, but only because they have SO MUCH stuff on it... designet international
Came from a chain store named Ben Moss (not sure if it's national, or whatever).
You should make online an option - seems like a lot of people get them from online dealers
Mine is from a chain store - Mappins, which I think is Canadian, but is owned by Zales
I can tell you all where you SHOULD get your rings...I just got back from a trip to St. Maarten, and diamonds are basically half the price there that they are here because of the lack of taxes, tariffs, etc. It's actually worth taking a trip down there and visiting Philipsburg because after you do, and after you pay for a ring AND vacation, it'll still be cheaper than buying a ring here!well close anyway...if you get a really nice ring ;)
There is so much variety! I love that everyone's "story" is different :-)
@bananarama: good idea! i added "online" to the poll.
@Miss Longcoat: who was nice enough to give your mom a diamond on the day you were born? what a special story your diamond has!!
My e-ring is from a local independent jewelry store, and then I had that same store custom-make my band to fit the e-ring. I really enjoy having a relationship with the jeweler, and the first time I came in to have it resized, the jeweler went on and on about how excited my husband was to pick it out for me.
My engagement ring came from a chain store... However, my wedding band was bought at a family owned jewelry store.
Pfft I thought your "online" option was actually other. oops
I guess though it would be custom?
We got the stone from a diamond dealer my mom knows and he set it for us and we bought it. lol
Ours is from Jared's. We didn't plan on buying from them originally but we ended up getting so sick of ring shopping that we just went there and bought one because it was easy and accessible haha.
@assilem: LOL I love your icon. (Not sure if I've said that before...I know I've thought it, at least.)
My engagement ring came from Leroy's, but it was custom made as well.
E-ring was custom-made by the Natural Sapphire Company, wedding ring from Zales.
My ring is vintage, but it's not an heirloom from our family. It was purchased from an estate jeweler, sooo "Other", I guess? My wedding ring was custom made.
@KatyElle: Can I see your ring?
I'm considering mentioning to my boyfriend about a ring through etsy, which shop did you get yours from?
my ring was from brilliant earth. I guess that's an independent company?
@Miss Marbles: Laurie Sarah Designs
Here's a vendor photo. I'm so excited, I actually found out that I'm getting it sometime this week :-)
