...or plan on going for you engaged couples?
We went to the Riviera Maya and stayed at Aventura Palace. My family is members to the Palace Resorts so we bought a week of them. It was Amazing! Swim up bar, all you can eat and drink. We did the zip-line and visited Mayan Ruins. They had a special honeymooners night. Last year we went to Cancun Palace before and called it our practice honeymoon. We werent even engaged! Its cold and snowy in NY. Im dreaming of our next trip! 1st year anniversary maybe?!
My husband and I didn't get to go on a honeymoon because we had to move across the country the month after we got married. We are planning something for our first anniversary though.
We went to the Excellence Playa Mujeres, not far from the Riviera Maya, and it was fabulous!
I am from N CA and we got married in Savannah, GA, where we live (he's stationed here in the army). A couple of days after the wedding, we flew back to CA with family and got my car ready to drive across the US back to GA. We called it our Road Trip Honeymoon! We stopped for two nights in Vegas, went to the Grand Canyon, stayed two nights in San Antonio (LOVE thre Riverwalk!), two nights in New Orleans just off Bourbon Street and a night in Orlando :). It was AWESOME! We both love road trips and man we lived each place up-when we left Vegas it was definitely time! LOL and we have HILARIOUS pictures from our nights in New Orleans! :)
Oh I keep hearing great things about Belize! Have a wonderful, amazing time!
We're going to St. Lucia, at the Sandals resort 2 days after the wedding. I keep forgetting about the honeymoon because I'm so excited about and have been preparing for, the wedding day itself. We wanted to do Europe but it wasn't in the cards.
@Jennifer- I hear Sandals is an AMAZING couples resort. We wanted to go to one but we got such a great deal on ours!
Great ideas here. I enjoyed Cancun and the Mayan ruins around there a lot when my family went several years ago, and I have heard and read wonderful things about St. Lucia. And there's nothing like a cross-country roadtrip with your FI, we did that 2.5 years ago when FI moved from Virginia to Seattle and it was awesome. We're thinking Moorea, that little island near Tahiti in French Polynesia. FILs are gifting us with Hilton points and I am pushing hard to use them in the amazing overwater bungalows at the Hilton resort in Moorea. The most important thing, and this was even emphasized in our pre-marriage prep course, is to relax on the honeymoon and enjoy being married after the stress of the wedding planning, and I'm hoping we can do tons of relaxing on the sand and in our little bungalow with froofy drinks. :) (Plus the island is supposed to be beeeauuuutiful, when we do eventually decide to get off our butts and rent a scooter.)
Back to our house LOL.
We are going to go on a real vacation in Feb-ish :)
We went to Europe. We visited London, Paris, French countryside, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Germany in a crazy, packed two week honeymoon. It was definitely the best trip of my life. :) We had so much fun, we can't to go back!
We went to the east coast of Jamaica, away from where most tourists go and stayed in a cottage on the side of a big hill/mountain that overlooked the ocean. Our vacations are usually incredibly energetic but we just wanted to relax since we knew we'd be tired from all the wedding festivities and it turned out quite nice.
We went to the Excellene Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for 8 nights. It was so amazing, I wish we could go back there! My parents are talking about taking a trip there, I so want us to go with them :)
This wasn't a honeymoon but we went to Cancun in November and stayed at the Gran Caribe Real Resort. It was amazing. It's a small resort (500 rooms) but it wasn't a "party" resort and it wasn't full of little kids either. It's really close to the beach (no long walk like some resorts), there was 1 main pool and 1 kids pool on the other side of the resort. A really nice wedding chappel, 6-8 restaurants, 5 minute walk from a mall with Bubba Gumps, Margaritaville, Pat O'Briens, plus a bunch of little shops where we did most of our shopping. There was a bus stop right in front of the resort and you can catch it to go to a market or Walmart (we did!). There are also 2 other bigger malls 10 and 15 mins away. 25 mins from the airport.
Honestly it was an amazing trip. I'd go back tomorrow if I could.
They were doing some construction on the beach while we were there but I'd imagine they're done by now or will be soon...
We are going on a RC Cruise in March 2010. I'm so excited! A somewhat short one, though...4 nights. We're going on Navigator of the Seas that's departing from Miami. Never been to Miami, so I'm exciting for that one!! May even get a hotel in Miami the night before so we can scope it out. CSI Miami is my FAVORITE show so now I get to see all the cool things I saw in the show :) Haha - but we're going to Cozumel on our cruise. Anyone ever been there?! I'm super excited!!
We went to the Excellence Playa Mujeres also. Nice resort, but terrible weather the week we were there. They did not keep us well informed of the pending tropical strom, they would give no info on the weather or the newsletter would say cloudy and showers when really it was downpours and wind. The pool on the Roof Top Terrance was unusable because it was so cold.
We are on a tight budget so we decided to stay in the States and go to a B&B for a week. We'll take our real honeymoon later in the year.
Monterey CA for two days and that was only at the request of both of our parents who really insisted we get away for a little bit. We were happy just staying at my place but I'm glad we went.
We're trying to finalize our honeymoon plans to take full advantage of discounts and sales, so this thread would really help me out. The original plan was to go to Kauai since they ran a promo a little while ago and we thought to have 2 separate receptions, one in California and the other in Sweden. But for simplicity and our budget's sake, we've concluded that having a wedding in one location would work best for us. Plus the Kauai promo is nowhere to be found - it ran for such a short period!

The plan is to go somewhere warm and cheap-ish. We're impartial as to where, just as long as we can bum around on a beach for a few days. We'll be going a short time after our wedding in Oct. Last time we checked around, the deals point to Mallorca, which sounds fabulous but I'd really like to go somewhere new for both of us (the Fi has gone there before). Love to hear all about your honeymoons and recommendations!

We did Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and Sedona, AZ. Some big city, wilderness, road trip, relaxing- it was a nice combination
@vitsippa- I would recommend any inclusive resort for your honeymoon. This way you wont have to spend a dime while your there and sometimes you can find some great deals! I would try Palace Resorts, they have special honeymoon packages. Good luck!
@Lees- HAAAAAAAAAAAAA! You crack me up wiht your CSI Miami talk. I can tell we are gonna get along GREAT on this Wedding Bee. : ) Cruises are so relaxing and beautiful. Have fun!
We'll be spending a week and a half in Australia doing a Reef & Rainforest trip!!! Flights are booked but we're still deciding on hotels. I def want to do one of those treehouse/hut deals in the the middle of the forest and possible a night out on a boat in the middle of the ocean right by the reef. Can't wait!!!!
Riviera Maya...staying at Secrets. I may be more excited for the honeymoon than the actual wedding!
@twalila - Are you going to the Daintree? I was just there this summer and it was the coolest place I have ever seen in the world. I went out on the Rum Runner for snorkeling and stayed at the Daintree Beach House? I also did a nightwalk in the Rainforest. Really neat! Let me know if you want any info!
@Lees4308 -- we were just in Cozumel last week! Lots of fun, we went to the San Gervaiso ruins and Playa Mia beach! =)
We just returned from our honeymoon - 7 night Western Caribbean Disney Cruise =D It was fabulous =D
We went here: http://www.excellence-resorts.com/all-inclusive-resorts/playa-mujeres-mexico/playa-overview.htm and LOVED it! Pengy also went there and had lots of great things to say about her trip (she's why we went)!
Such interesting things! I think I'm going to look into Mexico more! I had no idea there was so much to do there!
Excellence - Dominican Republic!!! We've heard so many wonderful reviews and can't wait to jet off!!
We're going to South Africa for the World Cup. Even though it will be winter there (so no beaches!) we are super excited for a safari, some wine tours and to watch the USA win in soccer!
We went to Vegas baby! And actually we invited all our friends and family along with us. Not very traditional but it was extremely fun to celebrate and party with all our loved ones and wow, did we ever celebrate! We stayed at Mandalay Bay. It was nice but it wasn't fantastic. We went to a show, went on some rides, did a little blackjack, sightseeing, it was great!
@Twalila-that is soooo cool! I would love to do that. You def have to post pics when you get back!
@ Gator!! South Africa is soooooooo beautiful, you will love it!
Lanai for a few days right after and now, Paris/Venice when the weather warms up in April. Chosen specifically for romance, plus we're art/nature/beauty lovers!
We wanted to go to Greece but found out that it's cool in Oct. and a lot of the ferries to the isles are closed or run less. Bummer!
Now, I am trying to make my FI decide for us. I've given him a list that includes Edcuador/Galapagos, Australia, South Africa, Egypt, Hawaii and Costa Rico. I wonder whether he'll choose one of those or if he has anywhere else in mind!
It's no fun when your ideal honeymoon spot won't work!
We're going on a Princess cruise to the Caribbean leaving from Puerto Rico in 5 days!
So we went to Glacier National Park, but we're going to the Yucatan in February. I'm so excited about it! We're going to stay in Tulum (South of all the crazy spring breakers!)
We went to Maui and it really was breathtaking! The only thing is that we flew from the East Coast and the time difference really caught up to us! I would love to go back but I will definitely go for more than 7 nights...too far for such a short trip.
Little Cayman Island - it was tiny and wonderfully relaxing. We stayed at the Southern Cross Club.
