I did have my photographer have some larger prints done for me, one on canvas, but the others for friends and family I had printed through shutterfly. It was perfect.
Mpix is Awesome!! Metallic prints are the best for color photos!! We only order pics from Mpix, but do a big order you have to pay for shipping.
I used Shutterfly to get our photo thank you cards. And a combination of Snapfish and Shutterfly for the prints.
No nonononononononono please do your photos justice and DO NOT get them printed at Target or Walmart (a thousand times, NOOOO!)
Try adoramapix.com - afforable and very high quality. Mpix.com is another great option.
My photographer said she would give me recommendations on where to go. If you bought the rights, they know you will be printing them somewhere, you could always ask them for their recommendation.
Use adoramapix.com! And since you're in nyc, you can save on shipping and pick them up in their store in Manhattan! :)

The Photographer gave us all rights for the pics and are on a CD as well as in a private online album with password on her website for a few months.
Now Because Im a cheapskate I was considering going to Target or Walmart with my CD and printing out the pics I need.
I need different sizes for Thank You cards, Give to our parents and the ones we will hang up etc....
So my Question is, where DOES a Bride go? Are there special websites? or is the closest photo care place from home the best bet?
