I’m leaning toward taking them, but don’t know where to do so! My wedding is in Michigan in November so as much as I would love to take them outside, there’s a very good chance weather will not cooperate. Where did you take your first look pictures? If you could, would you change the location? TIA!

Commenting to follow! We are definitely doing a first look but we just need to figure out how…

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
We did ours on the covered front porch of our venue, but had numerous indoor options as back-ups. I knew I didn’t want the normal bride taps on grooms shoulder thing, so ours was me coming through the front doors, which were very pretty and made for a nice backdrop.
Our friends did theirs on the steps leading from the 2nd to the 3rd level. There was a balcony type area on the 3rd level, so the groom walked 1/2 way up the steps, turned the corner, and there was the bride standing on the balcony above him. I threw that plan together at the last minute when they decided to do an unplanned 1st look, and it turned out pretty well.

We’re doing ours either outside the church if it’s nice, or on the balcony of the church. The rest of the Wedding Party pics will be at a garden/lake area on a nearby campus

We did ours by a pond on campus. It is such a pretty spot! It was really chilly but it made for amazing pictures. Photographers say that the best weather is when it’s grey out.

in the ballroom where we had our ceremony. I wouldn’t have changed it.

- Wedding: January 2013 - Harbourfront Grand Hall
@Rosegold: Yay Michigan! My venue had three floors with exposed staircases, so I stood on the landing of the third floor and Darling Husband walked up to meet me 🙂 It also gave us some distance from our photogs to enjoy the moment and they could shoot from farther back without a problem.
It won’t work at every venue, but something to keep an eye out for 😉

@Rosegold: ours were taken outside on a covered balcony even though it was about 48degrees and rainy. There indoor places were we couldve took them. But that’s what our coordinator and photag recommended.

@Rosegold: Yes, if I could have, I definitely would have changed the location.
I booked a gorgeous mansion with beauiful surroundings for my venue, and my expectation was that all of my pics would be taken outside. Unfortunately, because I arrived late to the venue due to distance and heavy traffic caused by accidents and the holiday weekend — combined with the fact that it was 96 degrees outside that day! — any and all pics of me with anyone prior to the ceremony (except for the few taken when I arrived and was walking upstairs) were captured inside the bride’s room. They all have that as the background, and I wish they did not.
