My mom also got hers from Nordstrom. That’s also where my bridesmaids got their dresses.
My MIL got her dress from a small bridal boutique by her.
My mom sees a personal shopper at Saks. It’s a free service and they are so helpful!
I took my MIL shopping at Nordstrom. My mom had hers custom made.
Both mom and MIL go theirs from department stores. I think they were from The Bay (Canadian), so the selection would be similar to Nordstrom.
My mom got her original dress for my sister’s wedding (that was earlier this month) at a trunk show at a bridal boutique. This is it (only in a royal blue shade), although it wasn’t her original choice. The dress she originally found and loved, she found out after the fact could not be ordered with extra length (she’s 5’10”). So she went back and chose this one.
When it came in, she hated it. She ended up going to Nordstrom and finding an Adrianna Pappel dress that was a couple hundred dollars less, although she did lose the deposit on the other dress, so she pretty much broke even.
Adrianna Pappel dress that she wore. Sorry, no full length photos yet, but it was same lace pattern to the floor.
So much hoo-hah is made over what someone is going to wear for a wedding, it paralyzes and no one can find anything they like because they are so locked up over whether is is just perfect.
My mom got a 2 piece outfit from Boscov’s department store. She wanted something appropriate, comfortable and decent-looking. My MIL asked me if she could wear the same dress she wore to her daughter’s wedding. I said duh, of course!
I found mine at Dillard’s. I saw it in the store in another size (it had been returned) then I ordered in online. It is a Madeline Gardner NY. Beautiful and very well made.
Mom: Macy’s. MIL: had it made bc she wasn’t liking any plus sized options in stores.
Nordstrom’s was Mom’s first go-to, too! Sadly no luck yet. I think we will be making a pilgrimage to the Rack on Monday. There are some nice outlet stores near me that we could try, too.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Another win for Nordstroms! We went in store today and both made a beeline for a phenomenal Eliza J. gown. It was the first dress she tried on during our shopping expedition today and she was done with that. 🙂 She’s fussing a bit because it’s the same color as the dress the bridesmaids are wearing. My sister (MOH) and I have both tried to talk her out of this, and even my fiancé jumped in without seeing the dress and said “Nooooooo, purple is good, get the purple one!” I think she’s still uncertain, but she looks amazing so I hope she doesn’t reconsider wearing it. It’s a great color on her and it’s cut to look tailor made.
Macy’s from the formal section!
