Where do American brides register?

    Hey everyone!

I'm from Canada and we're getting married here in Toronto in June.  Days after the wedding, though, we're relocating to Salt Lake City, Utah for my fiancee's job!

We cancelled our registry at the Bay (a Canadian department store) because it just didn't make sense to receive gifts that we would then have to ship out West.  We're basically hoping for cash mostly, but I thought it might be nice to have a small registry at an American store for guests that prefer this route.

I have no idea where to register in the States!  What are some of the options for a middle of the road/good quality but not crazy expensive place to register at?

Any tips would be great!  Thanks!

Maybe Bed, Bath and Beyond or Macy's? I don't know if they have BBBY in SLC, but I think they have a Macy's. I would say Target, but I heard Target registries are not that great. I'm not positive about that though. Good luck and congrats. :)

You can also do Amazon.com, online registries at places @PinkMagnolia: (I think...), ummmm.... Kohl's.... Dillard's... pretty much ANY major store/department store/clothing store that's in the area you're moving to.

Wal-Mart also does registries, if you're interested in them.

Like some of the PP's, we registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Macys. Macys is a popular higher end department store that is found just about anywhere (or atleast anywhere I've ever been). They carry a lot of popular designers. BB&B is like the mecca (sp?) of kitchen, bed and bath. For the most part, anything you need you can get there.

We're registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohls, and Macys.

I recommend you pick a place that has items you and your FI like, that people can order from easily online and ship to you, and has a good return policy.

Something to keep in mind is if your guests can ship to the store for free!  I thought all registries did this (since the Bay, Sears and Home Outfitters do) but realized Bed Bath and Beyond doesn't.  I'm curious if the American stores typically do not offer in store pickup.

Walmart does free in store pick up but I am not always crazy about their quality.  I will not buy clothes there and have had problems in the past with their telephones but other than that they are okay.  Macy's doesn't do in store pick up.

    Thanks everyone!

I wish there was a registry that would hold our gifts until we arrive in the States!  I may need to ask a random contact in SLC to receive our gifts.

PS: anyone live in SLC and wanna be friends with some friendly Canadians?

Macy's or Nordstrom's are the equivalents.  I would suggest Macy's personally.  Ton's of stores throughout the US.

Now my gf's brother is getting married in May and the newlyweds will be transferring to Germany in July. The invitation had this info so that people would give $$$ instead of gifts.  The bride and groom are still registered but they will most likely receive $$$$.

    Good Luck:)

We have Bed Bath & Beyond here in Utah.  Also Macys, Nordstroms, Williams Sonoma, Target, Kohls, and all sorts of other stores.

My main ones are BB&B, Target, and Thinkgeek.  I have a couple others for the registry/completion gifts.

Awesome choice!! I don't know if Sam's Club has registries but theyre a great place to get certain things. I loooove my vacuum cleaner from there, got a fabulous pot and pan set there, knife set, etc. Theyre good for bigger things.
