Oops! Sorry, it took me 2 weeks to see this post!
Yes, I absolutely think the broom would count as your "something borrowed!" And what a nice memento to use in your wedding.
I've been wondering about the very same thing. I think we will "jump the broom" right after the officiant announces us, as we get ready to walk back down the aisle. I haven't thought about it much.
Do you have pictures of your broom?
I have not heard about this broom thing before how very interesting. I do not think I will be jumping any broom though!
We're not getting married at a church, so we can jump the broom anytime. We are doing it right after he pronounces us husband and wife. After our kiss, one of the bridesmaids will take the broom and then we'll jump and walk down the aisle to begin the recessional.
So my church completely sucks and will not let us put the write-up in the program or even jump on the steps. I'm in the midst of a never ending angry screamcry.
So, has anyone jumped the broom at the reception? How did that work?
At the very end of the ceremont when he annouces us husband and wife
Wow Im shocked that you wont be able to jump the brook at the church. I guess the next best thing to do is to do it as you exit as you said. We are deff jumping the broom in the sand of the DR as soon as we are pronounced man and wife:)
okay so i am paranoid about jumping the broom. i'm scared i'll fall or something like that and it will mean curses for our marriage.. i also don't like the unity candle for the same reasons, what if it blows out while you're lighting it?! i sure hope m doesn't have either of these things in his radar.
I've decided to jump the broom at the reception when we're introducted to our guest. Something different then I've seen before.
My fiance and I are jumping the broom after we say our vows but before he officially announces us as Mr. and Mrs. Polar Bear.
We hadn't really talked about it much, but we both would like to so we'll probably make it happen. Ours will be at a library venue, not a church, so we can do whatseneva we want to!
I've seen a few online stores, but where are other people planning to buy them from?
My husband and I will jump the broom at the reception after were introduced.
@moneypenny02: what library venue are you getting married in? we havent decided on a location yet... the library sounds cool since we are both self proclaimed nerds =D

For those of you that are jumping the broom at your wedding, when do you plan to do it?
I am getting married in a pretty strict catholic church. We are not allowed to jump the broom in the cathedral, so my thought is to jump it the minute we exit the church, on the steps.
Also, if I borrow the broom that my aunt & uncle jumped over, will that count as something borrowed? They currently have it hanging on their wall in the family room, but I'm hoping they can let me borrow it. Otherwise I will buy one. Where are you getting yours?
I'm looking forward to hearing your broom jumpin' plans!!
