Where do you start with Wedding Band shopping?

How did you begin your wedding band shopping? Fine jewelry has never really been on my radar, so I wouldn't know where to begin. We have had some recommendations to have some designs copied and made, but I wouldn't even know what to copy. We've only been to Tiffany's and de Beers (dB has maybe one or two wedding bands in the case), surely there must be more out there. I didn't go shopping for the engagement ring, he did it on his own, so I know nothing about ring designers.

What are some designers out there? Any usual suspects? Or does wedding band shopping not work this way? Do I just hit the local jewelers and hope for the best?

    Thanks for your help!

First I would suggest chosing a metal. Does he want gold, silver, tungsten, etc? Different metals have different durabilities, costs, and looks.

Also, does he want something flashy or simple? Does he like designs, gem or diamond accents, or is he a plain band guy?

Ask lots of questions and then go from there! I would suggest a local jeweler for his band because it's usually not as expensive as Tiffany's and those kind of stores, plus the craftmanship is good and you can basically customize it for your man.

    Good luck!

I kind of just went around and tried a whole bunch of different styles on, and it was pretty easy to determine what I wanted after I tried on most styles.

Look online. It's the best way to see as many styles as you can dream up. Then you can look up the designer or what stores carry it, and then you can try it on (along with other similar styles to compare) and see whether you like it or not. :) Good luck!

I agree with 'marigold' as well, online is a really good place to start your search- it can at least give you an idea of what styles you might like before going out to the jeweler, it also gives them an idea of what you're hoping for so they can suggest options/alternatives..

Maybe try going to the place he got your engagement ring from?  They might have some options for you to look at!  I notice I've had the nicest time at the smaller, locally owned places-- but that's just me :)
