If anyone has any suggestions (idk if there are others of us on wb), let me know!  Airfare is expensive pretty much anywhere we go.  Even to go on a cruise, unless we cruised around Hawaii to the different islands (most of which I've been to though long ago) we would have to fly to wherever the cruise started, at least a thousand depending where we go.

Our dream destination is in Europe, but we're trying to keep it under 4k if possible...  I just don't know. Undecided

I voted for weekend on neighboring island and then a anni trip later - we live in FL so we decided to do a caribbean cruise!

I voted for the same as @Krissy...I think I'd still want to do a little something and that way you will have less stress now and can save up for your dream 'moon!!!

I've heard flights to Alaska aren't that bad from Hawaii--I went to AK with my FI last year and it was so incredible!

We aren't doing our honeymoon right away because we will have so many ppl we want to catch up with after the wedding. We are planning our getaway later on!

Also, traveling when moving is TOUGH! I'd tackle those two life moments separately

I'd go to some place secluded for the weekend and just hole up in some cute little place and feed each other fruit and drink mai tais all day and all night long.  Then when you get to CA take a trip for your first anniversary.  So you get a mini-moon and then a bigger trip to look forward to & plan.

Go to NYC! That is as different from Hawaii as I can think of. Granted when I go (which is as many times in a year as I can) I never do touristy stuff. I eat and shop like there is no tomorrow. And of course try all the stuff that is "so New York"

you're already half way to australia or somewhere in asia, why not do something totally different?! airfare is expensive, but getting around in SE Asia or the like wouldn't be bad. you can do a lot with 4k. are you looking for something totally different than hawaii?

Go to Australia! Airfare right now is insanely dirt cheap. We just took a 2-week trip there and LOVED it.

wow, thanks for all of the ideas!  we are DEFINITELY looking to do something different than hawaii/southern california since that's where we're from!  i see quite a few suggestions here so ill bring them up to my fiance and hopefully we'll figure something out!!

mrskesslertobe: my mom's family is from upper michigan, so i guess ive spent a lot of summers (and a couple of years living) NEAR wisconsin!  its cold up there!!  hehe

GaBGal: we're getting married in June, moving in December, and taking yet another (mini) road trip meeting up with some friends in Vegas in December/January.  I'm so nervous about the move though!  Hopefully I can plan around it, and we have somewhere to stay til we find a place over there, so I think we'll be okay.  The Vegas trip has been planned for awhile now though, and even partially because we knew we would be moving and we could drive there.  maybe not such a good idea?  lol :P

carrie a.s.b.:  we considered alaska but everyone we asked didnt seem to like the idea, ill check it out more though!

miss yap: we actually were considering NYC seriously!  i've never been (always wanted to go since i was like ten though!) and it sounds like there's so much to do!  have any hotel suggestions?

birdofafeather&snmcdowell: ill look into australia!  my fiance is saying no to Asia, although I thought it would be fun..

jslsbride, don't listen to the naysayers! Alaska was the best and most beautiful vacation I've ever taken.
