We got married at a resort. DH got ready in our room and I got ready in my parents’ room. Everyone else got ready in their own room.

I got my hair/makeup done at the salon three hours before the ceremony.

I would say that you are going to want the groomsmen getting ready with your FI so that you have photos of them all getting ready together. I love the photos we have of the guys getting ready. 😉

@Cola262: Can he get ready with the groomsmen?  I think that’s what I’ll have my dad do as well as FI’s dad.  I haven’t really thought it all through, but i just figured all the women would get together in one room/suite and all the guys in another room…depending on how big you wedding party is that might not work.

I was also wondering this – myself, my mum and BM’s are getting ready in my hotel room while my FH and his Best men and at another hotel… so I was thinking my dad would just be with us as he needs to be with me getting to the ceremony.

My ladies and I got our hair/make-up done at a local salon (about 20 miles from the ceremony location) and got dressed in the bridal room of the chapel.  My hubby and his men (who were his brothers) got mostly dressed in the house his parents rented for their stay for the wedding and finished dressing at the chapel (this was mostly ties).  Hi family got ready there as well and my parents got ready at their house.  My brother got ready at his house.  lol

I would say he should get ready with the guys so you can have pictures of your FI and you dad together. Unless you want photos of him seeing you right after you get dressed. I would make the decision based on which types of pictures you want to have done.

We were also a destination at home kind of wedding. DH took the hotel suite and I got ready with my girls at my aunt’s house as she lived near the salon and church. DH’s friends were staying at the same hotel so he invited the groomsmen and friends to join him. In the end, I saw photos and it was super cute because he didn’t know what to do so he got dressed before anyone came over and then they proceeded to bring him food and alcohol. My parents arrived at the hair salon as the BMs were being finished and we slowly migrated across the street to my aunts’ for make up my dad and Uncle were also there but mostly hung out on the porch until everyone was ready then they hopped into their suits. It really does not take dads time to get ready. It all worked out in the end. I think it worked out best that my dad did not go to the hotel with the boys as I enjoyed having him and he and I were the last ones to head to the church so we got to spend those nervous minutes together.
