Do you ever take yours off? I take mine off for the gym, showers & sleep - I'm afraid I'm going to harm it in some way. I know some ladies never take that ring off their finger! What do you do?

I leave mine on 24/7. I take it off if I'm, say, making homemade meatballs or using the diamond polisher at work. Or gardening with heavy nitrogen fertilizers.

You can't really hurt it and I get my prongs checked often enough. Mine's also insured. To me, the more I take it off (gym, shower, sleep that's 3 times a day!) the more likely I am to drop it in the sink or misplace it, no matter how often I try to put it in the same place every time. My cats also like small shiny objects. And I simply feel naked without it.

I only take it off I'm cooking something like meatballs, or doing some really strenuous cleaning.  I also take it off when I'm volunteering at the animal shelter, because not only is it in a sketchy neighborhood, but there are just wayyyy too many nooks and crannies when you're taking the animals in and out of the cages and such.  I wear it to the gym, shower, sleep, beach, etc.

I take mine off when I shower, go swimming or if I'm doing something that will make it get really dirty like gardening/baking etc.

I don't take it off when I sleep but sometimes I think I should.  I'm a stomach sleeper and I usually have my hand under my face, I've poked myself in the eye more than once with my ring.

Oh, we've also decided to get "fake rings" for our honeymoon.  We are each going to get cheap silver bands.  We will be spending a lot of time on the beach and I'm not comfortable wearing my ring at the beach or leaving it in the hotel room (I've had things stolen from my hotel room in the past).

my ring came with a chip in it, it's 4th generation so it's been around, so i'm kinda paranoid about it. we're going to get it fixed, but until then there's a weak spot. plus because it's been in his family for so long i don't want anything to happen to it, so i take it off when i'm in water, cooking something that will get my hands dirty, and when i sleep.

I take it off when I shower and go to bed for now but that's because on of the prongs is damaged and I'm not getting it fixed until this weekend (we have a family wedding and I want to show off! :-) I would probably leave it on all the time if it weren't for that. Other than heavy cooking, gardening, and some of my DIY projects that might damage it (resin is not fun!).

I take mine off occasionally--I've done it while painting our apartment, making turkey burgers or cleaning with bleach.  For the most part, I leave it on all the time.  I'm like ejs4y8: the more I take it off, the more likely I am to lose it!

I take mine off when I go to bed at night (I've been known to hit someone in the face and our walls are pretty thin so I don't want to do any damage there), when I shower (it would always get stuck when I washed my hair...I've lost enough as it is), when I'm heavy cleaning, cooking with raw meat and gardening.

I agree the the whole "the more I take it off the more likely I am to lose it" saying. Though I take it off sometimes when I get in the pool (when I remember anyways haha) because it seems like I remember hearing/reading somewhere that the chlorine can damage it. Is that true?

I take it off when I shower and to put some lotion on. I also try to take it off when I'm going to bed and put it on a ring holder...but that's only if I remember. Other than that, it stays on always.

I have a bowl in our house where I stash the rings, so I only take it off when I'm at home for cooking, washing, showers and gardening.  One of our rings is wood, so I have to be really careful!

I have to get mine resized, so until I do it is just a little loose... and that makes me just a little paranoid! I take it off to sleep, shower, exercise, and wash my hands. But once it fits properly I plan to keep it on as much as possible!

I take mine off when I get home from work and leave it off untill I leave for work the next morning. I am always cooking, washing my hands, showering w/e and I feel like the less wear and tear the better.

Cooking, cleaning, eating, sleeping, showering- I've noticed I take my engagement ring off alot because I don't want to hurt it or get it dirty.  I think once we get married though I'll be wearing my "other" ring more often.

Cooking, using lotions, sleeping (because my fingers swell), showering and dishwashing because the soap causes my ring to spin around my finger which is just kind of hard to keep track of while showering and then the stone hits dishes while dishwashing.

I take it off when I put lotion on and when I go to sleep (can't handle things being on me when I sleep).  If I go walking by myself I leave it at home in case I get attacked or something (I'm so morbid).

I take it off at night and when I'm doing dirty cleaning...like cleaning chicken breasts. Ew.
I take it off at night even though I do not want to because my FMIL's jewelers told her that you should because when sleeping it can get caught on blankets, etc and over time that loosens your prongs. And. She's lost a diamond or two that way. Take it off at night OR lose the diamond. Hm. No brainer to me! =)

I take mine off for showering, sleeping, cleaning, cooking, ... sometimes I'll leave them on the kitchen table but usually I put them in a ring box. Sometimes I'll stuff them in my back pocket. I'm not worried about losing them.

I also don't wear them when I exercise, but this is more about comfort and my hands getting sweaty and fingers swelling.

The only time I ever leave home without them is for a dirty volunteer project, which I do about once a month.

I take it off when I'm doing something that might get it dirty like gardening or cooking.  I also take it off when we float the river.  Good luck finding it if it slips off then!

If I'm gardening (not picking or anything, digging and planting!), cooking (I always use my hands, kneading, mixing, etc.) and tending to the bees (I have to wear gloves, easier to put them on without the rings), I take them off.

I take mine off when I clean the house, when I do dishes, when I shower and when I put lotion on. I'm paranoid about scratching the platinum. I can always replace the setting, but it's the "scratchy look" that I don't like. I am also very careful throughout the day not to bang it anywhere. I know...I'm a freak, but I like my ring to look as if I got it yesterday!

I wore my engagement ring ALL the time, but it wasn't the best for wear and tear, and after a year of daily wear, the band finally cracked ;(

I didn't take mine off for several months, but after reading more about how to care for a ring, I started taking it off to workout, shower, and now to sleep. I don't like removing it so often (afraid I'll lose it... this morning I wasn't wearing it but I didn't remember taking it off, which was a major scare!), but I'd hate to damage it.

I take mine off when cooking, doing yard work, and using hair products/lotions etc.

I also take it off for work (I am a nurse in neonatal intensive care, and rings are a gigantic infection risk for the little babies - the settings trap the nastiest of bacteria) so my ring lives around my neck on a strong necklace when I am at work.

I take mine off as soon as I get home and only wear it when I leave the house. I inherited that from my mom, she does the same thing. Otherwise I only take it off to put lotion on.

I actually only wear my ring when I'm out with friends or family. Sometimes I wear it when I'm working a shoot, but normally I don't in fear that I will lose it. I don't wear it at home much either.

I'm really careful with it, but also take it off rather frequently -- gym, shower, sleeping, if I'm doing any messy cooking or crafting, etc.  It "lives" in its ring box, and I've yet to misplace it or have any sort of scare...after having it for almost two years!

Yoga, gardening (not very comfy under garden gloves!) or out for a run.  Actually, I end up not wearing it for long periods at a time because the yoga studio I go to in the mornings doesn't have a place to secure valuables and so I leave it at home, and sometimes it stays there all day.

I VERY rarely take mine off. I do if I put lotion on at work, or I am making tortillas or meatloaf. I didn't even take it off when we went floating down the river and my fiance scolded me for it. Our friend lost his wedding ring for the 3rd time in the river. Even though my ring fits me snug, he says accidents happen. He's right. So, I am going to look in to getting a stunt double as soon as we get my band also.

I only wear mine when we go out (at the moment).  My ring needs to be resized (it seems to almost fall off when the weather is cool and dry, and just kinda fits when its warm.

Did anyone else have this problem?

Yep. I have had to get my ring resized twice. Even now, it is a little loose, but then if I am outside and my fingers swell it is tight, which is why I didn't bother taking it off at the river! The last time I resized it I got it a 1/2 or a 1/4 (don't remember) size smaller than I thought I needed it and it seems to be better.

I took mine off when I went in the ocean.  I heard it attracts sharks.  I didn't want to take any chances!  I also take mine off when I'm gardening or putting lotion on.  I also do it when I cook/bake something that requires my hands to get covered in food.

Veruca, just to clairfy, its not sharky that are attracted to sparkly things, its barracuda.

I ONLY take mine off for painting and paddling (white water or dragonboating).

Wow you girls take your rings off a LOT! How do you deal with the nakedness? LOL. Frankly, the lights in my gym are so nice, i get a big kick out of sneaking a sly peak at mine during pilates. It's so sparkly in there!! Much better than at home =]
