If you live in Walnut Creek and you want to be treated really really well, pop into Kinsley James. I had a great time there. They have a just a couple racks of dresses though and they’re all designer and fairly pricey because of that (I saw dresses mostly in the $3K – $8K range.. but I think they may have had a few closer to $2K). They were by far the nicest shop I went to… environment and employees alike.

The most dresses I’ve seen in the 6 shops I’ve been to was either Gesinee’s in Concord or Blossoms in Dublin. I ended up getting my dress at Blossoms though. Gesinee’s was the only one that wouldn’t let me take pictures (but we snuck some in anyway).

@Soon-to-be-Mrs-Fisher:  i found my allure gown at Flares in WC… they were having a trunk show so they had more than their usual slection… i reccomend them bc they really took care of me and answered all my questions… Rey helped me and she was super sweet. They are in downtown next to banana republic.

@Soon-to-be-Mrs-Fisher:  Hello fellow Walnut-Creek(ian?)!

I went all over the bay area searching for my dress, from downtown SF,to Dublin, to San Jose, to Sacramento, and without much luck. So I started shopping here in town. I drove to a bridal shop that had great reviews and looked promising. Showed up and the location was cleared out, it had been closed for months! So, defeated, I went to the only other game in town-Flares down on the Macys/Nordstrom pedestrian mall. I did not expect much because I had been in there before, only to be mobbed by lots of girls buying prom dresses. But this second time the place was quiet and even though they don’t have hundreds of dresses, they have a well thought out selection and I found “the one” almost immediately. It was such a good experience! The owners Lisa and Rey are two adorable french sisters who were so helpful and no-pressure oriented that I was totally comfortable. Unlike those horrible shops in San Jose, they did NOT bully me into making a decision or signing contracts right away. I won’t name names on here but if you want to know the places to avoid based on rude sales staff and unsavory business practices PM me.

Good luck! (Oh also there is another shop that just opened down town that looks really nice so you might want to check them out!)

@Soon-to-be-Mrs-Fisher: I’ve visited 10 Bay area bridal salons with my bride-to-be daughter (salons 11 – 15 are next week) and the best so far has been Janene’s Bridal Boutique in Alameda. They have a really interesting selection (not just the same old styles and colors), and a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It was a really fun experience. And bonus: they encouraged us to take photos. DD tried on a dress there that I would love to buy for her, so we’ll see.

Good luck with your dress search!

I went to Trudy’s in San Jose, and Elegant Lace Bridals- I wound up getting my dress at Elegant Lace, my consultant couldn’t have been nicer! (her name is Kim) She listened to me and pulled dresses that were not only in my budget but what I was asking for. I wound up going in and trying on dresses twice and no one ever rushed me.

Trudy’s Brides in San Jose also has a lot of very nice dresses and a pretty wide selection of sample sizes, which was a plus for me. My SIL got her dress there. I was a bit turned off by the service I recieved but from what I read on Yelp they are usually pretty awesome. I must have gone on an off day?
