I registered at Macy's and Target.
Macy's had a nice selection of reasonably priced fine china.
Target had lots of essentials.
We are registered at Target because they have a lot of the basics and will probably also register at Macy's for fine china and some nicer bedding.
We ended up registering at 4 places. We initially registered at Anthropologie, Amazon, and Target-- I love Anthropologie's style, but we wanted Amazon and Target for accessibility. We ended up adding a small Macy's registry because our parents insisted we needed to register for crystal.
Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Target, and Pampered Chef (my aunt sells it). We needed a lot of basics like decorations, but we don't care about fine china and stuff (both of out families have multiple sets we'll probably wind up with, and how often will we really use it? We're not the entertaining types). We're also going to do a cash registry online to go towards a car, because we just weren't able to find enough things we need!
We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Pottery Barn & Crate and Barrel. We really enjoyed our experiences with all of them and got lots of great stuff.
So far we registared at william sonoma and crate and barrel. I think we will do macy's for linens and towels.
We're registered at Crate and Barrel (for fun basics), Amazon.com (mostly because there are a couple cookbooks I want), and a store in Denver called International Villa (for a mid-range set of sturdy stoneware dishes). I think C&B is my favorite -- I noticed after my shower that when people bought things that weren't on the registry, C&B added them to our list and listed them as "fulfilled," which I thought was a neat way of avoiding duplicates!
So far we are just at Crate and Barrel, my mom wanted us to set something up for the engageemnt party. For the wedding ,we will probably do Sears, Bloomingdales and maybe Bed, Bath and Beyond.
We have a Wishpot.com registry and are registering at Target next week for those people that don't feel comfortable ordering online. Wishpot was a huge hit over Christmas, we all used it and got exactly what we wanted.
So far we have Macy's. We are going to register for most items at Crate and Barrel and Williams Sonoma.
We are going to register at macy's and williams sonoma. I never really thought about registering at target, but that might be something.
Macy's, William's Sonoma, and one other place. In the running for third is Crate and Barrel, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Pottery Barn. I've heard iffy things about Target's return policy otherwise Target would be on the short list.
Crate and Barrel, Macy's and Target. I've heard that Target doesn't have the best return policy, but I love it too much to not register there! Plus, we both have little sisters that are moving right after our wedding. If we have duplicates that we can't take back, they will find a happy home. :)
We registered at B3, Target, and Honeymoonwishes.com
So far, the gifts we've receieved from honeymoonwishes have been our favorites!
Target will not take returns without a receipt unless they can do a "credit card look-up" which only works if you purchase an item for yourself, not received as a gift. Sometimes people forget to attach a gift receipt, so you will be stuck with a gift you might not want if it comes from Target (like an off-registry item or one you registered for but changed your mind about).
It's too bad, because I love Target's housewares, but it's enough to make me not register there. Also, their stock changes so frequently that if you register too far in advance of your wedding, the items on your list may not be carried by the time your guests shop. I shop at Target at least once a week but sadly cannot use them as one of my wedding registry stores.
We registered at Macy's and Tupperware. We've gotten just about everything we need, now we just need to buy a new house to fit it all in!
We registered at Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy's and Target.
My fave is Macy's, I love all the Martha Stewart kitchen/cooking items! She has some fabulous finds in that department. (And they're all very reasonably priced)
Love beth bath and beyond, will probably to crate and barrel and also register for excursions and things for our honeymoon. My cousin did this when she got married( she went to Hawaii), they registered for a helicopter ride, dinner at a certain restaurant, some water activities. I thought that was a very neat idea.
If it helps, I work at the return desk at Target--they changed their return policy last summer. It is kind of complicated. Now if you've registered there and you don't have gift receipts, you can return an unlimited amount of gifts (even if you didn't register for them) 2x, using your registry log. After that for some reason, they limit you to like 120 or $150, but those first few trips you can still return as much as you want! Just make sure you don't forget your registry password.
We plan on registering at Macy's for dishes and stuff, BB&B for linens, and Target (mostly so we can take advantage of that return loophole!)
My fiance and I already have most of the basic essentials as I've always been a domesticated little bird and have been nesting ever since I left home for college!! But we still need formal sets of china and silverware so we'll be registering at Macys since they have a very large selection of beautiful traditional styles. We're also big foodies and love to cook and bake, so Williams and Sonoma is also a must!! Can we say copper stoveware?? :oD
we registered at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Amazon.com/Amazon.co.uk, and for a few cooking related goodies at William Sonoma. Even though a few items are way less money on Amazon than at BBB I'm thinking of switching them to BBB for the return policy. The few Target exclusive items we liked we registered fro on Amazon. i also heard Amazon has an an aggregator which would allow you to register for any item on any site. It would just organize them all for your guests.
We're registered at Williams-Sonoma and Macy's. I have a "My Registry" account with items from Anthropologie (since they don't have a registry-only wish list) and Horchow on it.
I like *things* and thought I'd enjoy doing my registry, but so far its been the source of my biggest break-down.
We're registering at Pampered Chef and Target, but we're being forced to register at Wal Mart. I'm againtst this on lots of levels, but it's the most practical for our guests who live in my small town that's two hours from the nearest Target and don't feel comfortable shopping online.
We're registered at BBB, Macy's and Target. People are suprised that we did 3 places, even though we really didn't register for a lot of stuff. (We've been living together for like 2 years and are in our 30's so we don't NEED a lot of things). We wanted to do a range of items and a couple of different places. Plus, each of those stores had a few things that were unique to the store, so we decided just to do all three.
we registred at Crate & Barrel (OUR FAVORITE), Bed Bath & Beyond, and target. I am learning from other brides that Target isn't a good idea b/c of their return policy. I am still uncertain about this. I do know that Bed Bath & Beyond has a great return policy and they are so wonderful to work with!
Macy's, Williams Sonoma and Tiffany.
Macys is our "main" registry - we live together so we have alot of basics but sorta did an upgrade (i.e. nice everyday dishes in addition to the 4 ikea plates that we currently have and Oxo gadgets to replace our dollar store ones) and things like china...their bonus program is amazing! We registered for 12 of everything (sans the everyday dishes, it was in a "box" set so 3 of those) because my family and his family alone are alrady 10 people - when you complete 10 place settings of china, you get a free open veggie bowl in your pattern. with 10 flatware sets, a free 3-piece hostess set and with 10 wineglasses, 1 free wineglass.
Alot of our friends and family shop at Macy's and have Macy's cards, so we get bonus and discount coupons - we have that as well and signed up for the Rewards program where you get 5 or 10% of what people get for you in a gift card after the wedding, and a 10% completion program (with 15% at certain times of the year).
We did Williams-Sonoma because my fiance is a really big cook (in fact he was supposed to go to Switzerland for cooking school, but moved to the States instead) so we have some specialty items on there (though me, being a neophyte chef shakes my head in wonder at the sight of a pasta machine), though most of the cooking/baking stuff is at Macy's. For him, his power tools are cooking tools (especially since we don't have a house yet) so it was Williams-Sonoma or bust!
With both of the W-S and Macy's registries we took into consideration as to what we will really really use - we both love to host parties together and have done some since we moved into our place so entertaining items were a must.
We're going to do Target & Pampered Chef (SIL sells). That should cover what we need. He's had his own place for 10 years but was lacking some basics. So I've bought some things and we've bought some things. But we're still short some things.
We are going to do Crate and Barrel (which is great), Bed Bath and Beyond (who has the best china prices + 20% off coupons) and then either Macy's or Amazon
Thank your for this post! We are in the process of deciding where to register and this is very helpful.
I have been worried about Target's return policy, but love the store. That is def. on the list as is Bed Bath and Beyond. I think we will also register at Macy's for the Martha Stewart Collection.
We registered at Macy's for China, everyday dishes, knive set and appliances (coffee maker, coveted Kitchenaid mixer, etc). Crate and Barrel for cute kitchen things. Pottery Barn for nice homewares things. Bed Bath and Beyond (duplicated my china and everyday dishes on this because it goes back and forth between Macys and BBB in terms of prices) because I couldn't find grapefruit spoons anywhere else. All have been great so far. Seems like a lot of registrys but none of the lists are very big. I guess since I have guests from all over the place I wanted them to have more choices as to stores that are convenient to them.
And in Australia I registered at David Jones, because they had the china and they have more of the better brand name items than the other department store in this country, Myer. I only registered there because my Future In Laws threw us an engagement party and people needed guidance on gifts. It was horrible, I had so many problems with rude sales associates, rediculous return policies. I ended up in frustrated tears everytime I had to deal with them.
We're registered at Macy's and Target for functional, practical household stuff, Restoration Hardware for pretty, home things, and Sears for a washer/dryer.
Bed Bath and Beyond and Dillard's. We tried to register at places that were in both states. Most of our guests are from either Arkansas or Oklahoma. The rest are out of the country and will use the internet regardless.
We registered at Macy's (for china and crystal) and Target (for more practical items), but are considering adding Pottery Barn for some more variety.

Mr. Bee and I created a small registry at Bed Bath and Beyond because we needed a lot of basics. Plus they have the best return policy.... you kinda don't know exactly what you need until the gifts start coming in.
What stores are you registered at and why? Which is your favorite?
